I dont know if we are going to get a DJ, or just use our ipod and rent out speakers and equipment. I feel like if we do the IPOD then we can make sure all of our songs get played... And I'm sure I could just have my cousin do the names of bridesmaids and groomsmen and bride and groom for the entrance, as well as lead the garter and bouquet toss... Any thoughts?

Unfortunately anything outside the dinner you pay separate so if you want to the dinner inside one of the restaurants that is included with your package but a reception pool side afterwards costs extra. I was quoted $2800 for the bar and that includes every kind of liquor/drinks and also set up of chairs and tables. The mic and speakers are a separate cost as well, and same with all the decorations unless you bring your own, we are also just bringing out IPOD and will hook it up to speakers:) seems to be a better choice!

Yeah we will probably do the poolside reception and just bring our iPod with our own music. My fiances family is Armenian, so this will guarantee that we will play some cultural music for them :) Also, can we bring our own decorations to the Resturant and poolside reception? Can we set off sky Chinese lanterns?

Who is doing a legal ceremony versus a symbolic?

I think we are going to do the legal ceremony, but the Jazmin (wedding coordinator) said that the judge is strict and doesnt want to incorporate any symbolic things (like poem reading, candle lighting, etc).... is anyone else here doing the legal ceremony? I emailed Jazmin and asked if I could pay extra to have her or someone else at the resort perform the symbolic stuff, then at the end of the ceremony have the judge perform his legal stuff....

I was told you can bring your own decorations and they will set up for you (for a tip).

I was also told sky Chinese lanterns are not allowed.

Did anyone, or is anyone, having a legal ceremony?

We plan to do a legal ceremony, but Jazmin said that the judge is strict, and doesnt allow us to have poems read or own vows :(

I am going to see if maybe I can convince Jazmin to let my cousin read a poem at the beginning of the ceremony, allow us to do our own vows, maybe a candle lighting or hands ceremony thing, and then have the judge take it from there with the legal vows and signing of marriage certificate....

Anyone else have experience with this?

Awesome thanks! Too bad about the Chinese sky lanterns.

I plan to bring our own vases and fill them with sand and put fake flowers in them.... I also plan to bring some other table decorations for the dinner like tea candles.

Hi Ladies, what is everyone doing for guest gifts? We are planning to do 1 gift basket per room  that includes the following:   1 beach bag, mini brochure highlighting the wedding day/activities we recommend and a brief section called “get to know our guests†– possibly including a picture of each family/friend and how we know them,  2, 24 oz tumblers with straws (great for all –inclusive resorts where the bars only give you little plastic cups to drink from!), aspirin, bug spray, sun block and fun sunglasses-

Just a little worried about how this is going to work as far as getting these items through the airport/customs…. Wondering if anyone has shipped down items to the hotel prior to arrival or if anyone is planning to do this??

Wedding favours yes:) and I am so excited about them! We have made a seating arrangement which I have NO idea if they will go with what we want or they do it on there own. As far as I know I think the only thing u can choose is how many tables/how many ppl at each table, you might be able to get away with name cards and specific seating for each guest. We plan to just have our guest sit where ever they want during dinner cause we don't really care about the dinner, its the after dinner reception where we want all our decorations and table cards and such to happen:)

I think for wedding favors, we are doing like gold picture frames with a picture of each guest and that will act as the seating arrangement in a way??

Does anyone know about legal ceremony vs. symbolic? we are doing legal but hope to still do our own vows and have my cousin read a poem....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
