Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

This is getting frustrating seeing all these posts on the forum about the resort not letting people do this and bring that. I've been dealing with Jazmin, and she's been pretty good so far with responses. My weddings is 1.5 mths away, and I have most of the things planned now with her, and I have emails printed out to document everything she said that was ok. I've placed deposits for DJ Bob and the make-up artist about 6 months back, and Jazmin confirmed it was ok. I will definitely make a scene if they reject them. As for the photographers, I am paying for a friend to stay in the resort for 5 days, and Jazmin just told me to email Arrecife Studios about it. They havent responded to my email at all, so I'm going to have to talk to Jazmin again maybe.

Well, after emails from both my TA as well as reps from Air Transat and a "not so nice" phone call to the resort from my TA yesterday morning, we finally got some answers from Paloma via email last night. This is her reply regarding our concerns over allowing external vendors onto the property:

Hola Liz

In case you want to bring an external supplier for hair & make up - the regular procedure is to pay a day pass for each person that comes to the Hotel
Nowadays the cost of the day pass is of 90 usd - ( this has always been the policy for externalsuppliers like hair & make up)

What we cannot acept ( mandatory) - no local external photgraphers are allowed

I enclose options & costs for private events

Kind regards

So, good news that hair/make-up vendors are allowed!! The prices she sent me for the reception details are still 2013 so I'm not sure if they'll try to hike them up for our wedding in Jan, but since it's only 3.5 mths away and she JUST sent these prices. I'm taking these as the prices we will be charged and raise a stink if they try to jack them up on us.

I am also having trouble getting any communication from Arrecife!

I requested package pricing from them back in March. The first response I got back from them was in July, basically telling me I had to use them exclusively and that they wouldn't be releasing pricing for 2014 until August/Early September.

So I emailed again at the end of August and again last week and not even a response from them.

Its frustrating that we HAVE to use this photography company but yet the customer service is terrible and they won't release any pricing so that we can budget for it.

Hello brides to be's, I'm getting married at the end of January with my date confirmed but no time arranged yet! I'm getting really concerned as I've emailed them four times in six wks and nothing! I cant send invites with no time. Any advice? The last email was quite pushy and said I was not happy with the communication! I'm not enjoying wedding planning as I'm not getting anywhere :-(

I feel your pain!  We weren't getting anywhere either, then we got our TA to email and phone down there and communication has become better now. If you are working with a TA you could try having them contact the WC...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
