Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

My wedding is in 3 months. I started getting prices from WC only about 1 month ago. The exception to that is Arrecife, who started giving me prices months and months ago, which have kept changing since then.

Ok so we set a date finally. August 4, 2014. Gulp. So excited and nervous! We are inviting 50 guests. I was wondering if anyone was planning to do wedding favors still for destination? As with the prices on poolside reception... I was emailed these prices after asking for them by the wedding coordinator so i don't know it's all really confusing :-(

Thanks :-)

Hi! If you're having about 50 guests, I would highly suggest working with a TA!! They really help to keep everyone organized and you don't have to do any of the arranging for your guests (which I predict being a nightmare).

The rate we got from our TA was about the same... For example, our rate through TA for the GBP Akumal is $1758 (incl taxes) for 1 week in Jan '14. Expedia does not sell Akumal, but Tulum rates for the same week right now are $1781. So really there is not much price difference, and we get a free trip for every 16th person from Air Transat!! smile159.gif Other carriers offer the same sort of incentive deals when you do group bookings. But honestly, just to relieve the headache of trying to organize 50 people alone, I would recommend a TA.

Hope this helps!

The majority of our group lives in Regina, but our TA has also made arrangements for those flying out from Winnipeg and Calgary too. Also, some are doing 1 wk air & land, where others (including us) are doing 2 wks air & 1 wk land, and yet others are doing just 5 days land. So I think they can pretty much do whatever combo your guests want.

What did you guys do about elderly who are/were unable to make it to the destination wedding? My grandma is 84 and her health hasn't been the greatest in recent years and she will not be able to travel. It breaks my heart because she is my last alive grandparent, and also the mother of my mom (and my mom passed away when I was a teen). Your advice and thoughts are much appreciated.

We sent out invites way in advance. We decided to forgo the STD's and just sent our invites out last Feb (I believe) with an RSVP date of Oct 1st. In the invite we put a card with our TA's contact info and we just put the date of our wedding. We also set up a wedding website with our TA contact info on it and included the link to the website in the invite. On the website we included lot's of travel info, including the dates we would be travelling.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
