Hi Ladies so I just read the new package but all you get extra is the 2hr private reception and the cocktail hr and canapes for around 1500 dollars etc. I was quoted around 600 for the private reception after dinner for 30people so that would make the unforgettable 2300 doesnt actually seem worth doing to be honest.

Not sure how much the cocktail hr with canapes would be but other brides had said they were right next to the outside bar so had drinks there which is included in your stay.

Does anyone else know the prices for the private reception for the cheaper bar option?

Hmm, i wonder if the 2hr open bar also includes a DJ and the whole reception set up then or if its just the drinks and bartender... because if it doesn't, you're right leanne, I don't know if it would be worth it

I wonder if you choose the national bar but you don't want the DJ, just speakers, would it also be about $500 of the price then? I would assume so?? That would make it closer to $1400 and at least you know the variety of booze is there. Has anyone done this?

Some advice needed from anyone who has already been to this resort...

Our wedding is at 2pm at the gazebo in Tulum - we couldn't get a later time because of other weddings. I'm concerned about what the guests will do between the ceremony and dinner. It's symbolic so my guess is the ceremony will be quick and our photographer said he needs 90 minutes after for pics. That would take us to maybe 4pm...and we likely wouldn't do dinner until 5:30-6. That leaves our guests dressed up and entertaining themselves for four hours!

Any suggestions on what we can tell guests to do? I know most of the ladies won't want to change back into their bathing suit, just to have to change and get dressed up again. I also worry that if we just leave them to their own devices everyone will end up going to one of the bars and drinking for those 4 hours and then end up being super trashed at our dinner. sad.gif

Suggestions???

I was thinking that maybe after our photos we could have our guests meet us somewhere (an indoor bar where it wont be as hot?) and we could do a few celebratory cocktails and our speeches there while we wait for dinner. Then dinner will just be eating and maybe our speech and then we will do the poolside reception after. This is so much time in between though...I am really not sure what to do. Are there any indoor bars that are open during the afternoon/evening? Ahhh, help me please!!! :) We wanted to go away so it wouldn't be stressful planning but now I'm getting a little anxious about this timing...

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

We have 4 maids and 7 groomsmen...I'm considering using real-touch flowers for bouquets instead...they are gorgeous but they aren't cheap. If the price of flowers from the resort are comparable, I'd obviously rather have real than fake. Anyone have any numbers to throw at me?? :)

HIya

I will pm you the price list I received from the hotel and along with the brochure - the brochure photos are so dated circa 1980's so its best if you email a photo of what you want and they will advise if you can have it or what the extra costs will be

My friend is a florist here in Scotland so she  made up a bouquet of what I wanted then I sent a photo of it over - it was made exactly how I wanted it and all flowers were in the package so I had nothing extra to pay for.

Kristen would you mind sending me that flower price list as well? We have been debating on whether to contact Marvin or not to outsource our flowers... it all depends on the process from the resort. thanks, Liz :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
