Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Yeah, my wedding is not on the Thursday (unfortunately) so I will have to pay for the private reception. I already booked the DJ for the private reception and his prices were not too bad, so I guess it will be alright. Compared to some of the other resorts I looked at, this private reception cost is already decent. I've seen some prices that were totally out of whack.

Hi Leanne we are from Scotland and have been advised that no local photographers are permitted into the Bahia Principe hotel grounds Sad smile

I have been in discussion with brides from the USA and Canada and they have advised they have paid to fly down their photographer from home.  When they have been able to afford this cost Bride & Grooms will pay the photographer package they choose, plus the travel & hotel stay for the photographers chosen from home as well as $800 per day per photographer for taking the wedding photos, way expensive !     The hotel are making easy money at $800 per photographer if wedding parties are going with this option.

Not sure what policies are at other hotels and I am not going to look as it will just make me mad if I discover other hotels allow local photographers - wish I had looked and questioned more about photographers before booking.    Dont get me wrong, we have stayed at the hotel 3 times before and love everything about it - we wouldnt have booked our wedding here otherwise - just wish I knew all this about photographers before hand.

Trisha is a photographer that has flown to do wedding photos and she herself was married at the hotel.

Good luck with your planning Kirstin x

Hi Kristen,

I did check with a few other resorts and most of them charge to bring an outside photographer its terrible I know. I think I am going to go with the resort photographer I saw many mixed reviews but looked on their website and the photos are beautiful. I really didnt budget paying for an outside photographer.

Are you having a privare reception? Not long for you now I cant wait to hear your review as I am also getting married at the gazebo and staying at tulum resort.

Yes we are going with Arrecife the resort photographer too.  Lots of mixed reviews and I have looked at practically every photo they have taken via the website and Facebook page.  I have also spoken with brides from all over the world that used Arrecife and there was mixed reports from them too but at the end of the day I want photos and the costs for the alternative are not what we budgeted either.

Its gettign so close the days will start to fly past :) x

If you fly in a photographer and they stay at the GBP, you do not pay $800. That is the fee only if you fly in a photographer and they stay at a different hotel. And you absolutely cannot use a local photographer.

Hi Ladies,

Just a heads up, I contacted DJ Bijan to put down a deposit and he informed me that going forward, GBP will not be allowing external DJs. He said he has a few weddings booked there already so they obv will be honouring that but going forward we cannot use anyone other than the resort DJ.

I have contacted Jazmin, our coordinator to see if this is correct - nothing back yet but I will update as soon I hear back.

Oh my goodness, there are only 67 days til the big day! We're getting quite excited.

I was wondering, did anyone book audio equipment for their dinner for speeches and to have music during the meal? Also, is anyone planning a grand entrance at the restaurant that would take place before people eat dinner? The bridal party was interested in doing something like this :)

Thanks!

OMG! You're kidding me right? I've already placed a deposit with the DJ before I confirmed exactly which option I wanted for the poolside reception. I'm really hoping that they honour that, and I won't have to find something else. I just emailed Jazmin as well, so hopefully, will hear back soon.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
