Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Strange questions. We are still trying to sort out what we'll do with guests later. I am not too keen on the poolside reception.

1) Does anyone know if we could just go to one of the bars / nightclubs in the resort and hold off an area for our party - we are quite a small group?

2) I also have seen there are extra charges likely if you bring in your own band/DJ. My partner is a guitar player so we were actually even thinking of just bringing his guitar and then he could play a bit later on in the night - either outside near the beach or somewhere in the resort. Does anyone know if this would be an issue or where we could do this? I assume there would be no charge for him since he's the groom.

3) Finally if we did go for the poolside reception, do you think the resort would have an issue with the guitar being played? He wouldn't need any speakers as its an acoustic. So we would have the speakers with an ipod for music or our own and then also have the guitar for a few songs too.

Thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated to the above. Thanks Miriam :)

Hi everyone - more questions!

I wanted to ask some people who've been for their thoughts related to our hen/stagette. We are planning on doing a girls night out in Mexico (there will be 10 of us girls).  A few of the girls are very keen on doing the party bus/club hopping in Cancun but a friend I know who lives in the area has said Playa del Camen is just as good and has suggested a few clubs that we go to - also she's said that at least we won't have to travel for 1.5 hours on the bus each way.

As the bride, I'm quite indifferent about the whole thing - I just want a fun night out and want to have some drinks, laughs & dance.

If you were in my shoes, which one would you suggest for the hen do / stagette bearing in mind we will be travelling from the resort - Playa del Carmen or Cancun?

Thanks for your help, Miriam :)

Hi Miriam

We are not having a poolside reception and will end up at one of the bars after our meal.  Regarding playing guitar that sounds great I wouldnt have thought it an issue but you can never tell they call the shots and unfortunately charge for things at the drop of a hat  :(

Cancun on a bus is bad enough journey time wise, let alone before and after drinking.  For my Hen night we are going to have a bar crawl all round the hotel bars then head to Coco Bongos in Playa del Carmen - 20 minutes away,.  The Coco Bongo's in Playa del Carmen is just as much fun as Cancun and there are other bars and clubs so plenty places to choose  from.

I am like you drinks, laugh and dancing.   Kirstin x

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
