if you are British, were you required to have your documents (as above) translated & notarised? What firm did you use to do this? What were the estimated costs?

I feel your pain.  we are in Scotland and both are divorced, due to get married on 20 June this year.  I have had a nightmare about this I have continually asked Eugina about this as First Choice told us we DID need to get all our documents translated and legalised however when Engina has replied she has sent me different details about this so I am still no futher forward.  

 

 Not helped at all by the fact that she has come back and side we cannot get married at Tulum Gazebo as someone else is booked at the same time, she has to talk with Paloma as she is her boss and then will get back to me     This all happened between Christmas and New Year and despite emailing her and Paloma I havent got a clue what is happening as not heard from them.

 I was due to put the order in for my personalised items but cant do it til I know whats happending.   We have family and friends arriving from Scotland the week after us so they can then have a weeks holiday on their own so we only have a few days leeway.

 

It was all going so well until now  . . ..

 

If you get a reply with details please can you share on here  thanks x

Yea you have to pay extra, we are doign this with our guests.  Cant remember how much we were 2 years ago - no more than 18 USD PP tho

I believe if the Bride or Groom have NOT been married before there is no need for translation.     Even more money for us divorcee's!!

If you go onto the thread/link, ensure you go to the bottom of the thread then copy and paste it then enter your wedding date and the name of the hotel / location.  That way all other brides can see who is getting married dates close to them .  It is handy too as some brides have then been in touch with each other for sharing things, particularly sharing the costs of flying photographers down rather than using Arrecife the onsite photographers or local ones (you then have to pay a visitors day pass)

Hi I have just had a look through our paperwork and found this, If either party is divorced: Decree absolute (must carry the court stamp.) If the bride/groom is divorced and kept maiden then a decree absolute must be taken to Mexico, but does not need to be transalted or legalised. If the bride/groom is divorced and kept married name, then the decree absolute and full birth certicate must be taken to mexico and will need to be legalised and translated in the uk prior to departure. Hope this helps

Our wedding is on 9th May so a bit before yours I think. I'm glad to hear that you don't need translation. Was just a bit worried as have had some issues with FC. Have you heard back from your WC? Ours is Eugenia and still nothing - am very annoyed to be honest. I know that they have a lot of weddings etc but it is very close

We have Eugenia too it took a couple of months for her to reply with a wedding time, then we emailed to sort the restaurant, menu and about a pool side reception and she replied in days but it has now been a couple of weeks with no reply, have you not had any contact with her?

No - nothing. I even phoned the resort today. I'm very upset about this. Our wedding is a few weeks before you and we haven't been given what you have. Also I am a bit worried as the other person who replied said different information. It is just very confusing. I will phone her again tomorrow as I need this to get sorted. It will stress me out which is against the whole reason why we were going to get married there.

thanks for this. Where did you find this? We should (theoretically) have the same paperwork. I have never seen this - I thought this was likely the case but nowhere does it say that. I never changed my name so I guess that all I need is my divorce and birth certificate - without translation or legalisation. My fiance obviously didn't change his name so I guess he is in the same boat. I am on the phone with the hotel now - a fun experience (I'm kidding).
