Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

For  my wedding, we had a poolside reception so we had a mic and were introduced by my father before dinner.

For the wedding I photographed at Coba, someone (dad again I think) introduced the bride and groom as they walked into the reception.  he just yelled, basically.  But the restaurant won't have other guests in it at that time, so it's not like you're competing with anyone.

For the wedding I photographed in Tulum, the bride & groom just walked in and everyone started clapping.

I saw this question in another thread and I thought I'd ask in this thread since it's specific to our resort. Do past brides remember approx. how much cash they brought down to Mexico with them? And what type of things definitely needed to be paid in cash? I don't want to bring too much, but I don't want to bring too little either. Thanks!

I can't remember specifically how much cash we brought, but we did need cash for a deposit on our wedding ceremony/reception. I believe it was half of the total amount we owed. We paid the remaining balance when we checked out on our Visa. If you are doing a legal ceremony you will need cash for the blood test as well.

Her Andrea,

I think I was told by another bride somewhere that they were not allowed speakers and mics etc at their dinner inside the a-la-carte restaurant because like you said, you won't be the only ones there. So the resort does not want to interrupt the dinner experience of its other patrons.

As for the seatings inside the restaurant, I believe Trisha listed some of them out in her Offical Gran Bahia Principe thread, so you could check that out, and see what it says there.

I checked the Official Gran Bahia thread, it did not say the seating / table options at the Mediterraneo.  If anyone has any info/ pictures they could post, it would be great!!!!

Thanks in advance!

Oh, that's a shame. Hopefully someone else will be able to help then.

I was wondering if any past brides/Trisha know and can suggest great locations for shooting the bride&groom pictures... maybe locations with buildings that have unique features or locations with great backdrops (other than the beach of course). I wanted to see if there are locations all around the 3 resorts, and consider renting a cart for an hour or so, so I can get to all these places with the photographers.

I know I've always seen the big yellow building as backdrop.. and there was a little market/local shops? And there's the hammocks, but I have no idea where all these places are located. Thanks!

I know that there's a little "market" between the Coba and Akumal resorts.  Then there is a Market at the Hacienda also.  There are hammocks at Coba and Akumal I believe.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
