Hi everyone,

Jazmin got back to me and we can have the outdoor grill for free!! Yay, this has made me feel better about the situation as it will be a similar style of meal to we wanted now, still a bit gutted that it looks like we won't be able to eat in Gran Tortuga but can't complain at the upgrade for free really!

4 days till we leave, very excited now, thank you soooo much to everyone's help on this forum, if it wasn't for all your information we would have been paying a ridiculous amount for our poolside reception and wouldn't have known anything about the resort until we were there.....

Hello ladies!!!!! Sorry I didn't get a chance to say goodbye prior to my departure, but we just returned yesterday from the most AMAZING wedding ever!!!!! I will be sure to write a review soon, but I just want to tell the brides that have Maria as their coordinator that you are in good hands...she is great, very detailed and was on point with all the many requests we had!

Also, for those in doubt about the private poolside reception...I HIGHLY recommend it!!! It was SO beautiful and worth EVERY penny...you will not be dissapointed!!!!

That is strange your wedding coordinator would tell you that La Gran Tortuga was close for renovations due to the hurricane. My wedding was this past week and a girlfriend of mine and her family ate at La Gran Tortuga on Tuesday night. After seeing your post, I called her to ask if there was any type of damage to the restaurant and she said "No", so if you really want to have it there I would try and fight for it unless the real reason is they overbooked it??

However, if the outdoor grill they are offering you as an alternative is set up anything like the poolside reception, this may be a better option. The poolside reception was BEYOND my expectations and SO worth it!   Best of luck to you and I hope you have a grand wedding!!!

Thanks for the restaurant info and recommendations....

Well we leave in 7 days and I've just had bad news from Jazmin, apparently our wedding meal restaurant (la gran Tortuga) was damaged in the last storm and the renovation work is taking place during our stay, I'm gutted! :-(

I was so happy that we go this restaurant in the first place and I've been looking forward to eating here for ages....

Jazmin has said we can either have set menu at Le Gourmet, set menu at El Pescador or upgrade to the outdoor grill dinner- she didn't give me a price so if this was being offered as a free upgrade we would definitely go with this option - but I think I'm kidding myself there.lol

So think we are going to have to go with Le Gourmet, do you chose the set menu from the normal menu choices or do you get a different set to chose from?

Thanks...

Nic . :-(

hey,

Does anyone know approximately how long it would take to walk from the Akumal hammocks wedding location to the Akumal lobby bar? As well as between the Akumal lobby bar and the Frutos del Mar restaurant?

My guests have just over an hour to kill between the ceremony and dinner..is it close enough to walk there, or would another bar be better???

thanks!

It's definitely close enough to walk.  From the hammocks it's probably a 2 minute walk if that?  You just walk along the activity pool and it'll lead you to the main pool.  Cross the bridge and you're at the lobby bar.

And the Frutos Del Mar is at the edge of the activity pool, so even less.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
