I am sorry to hear that.... I just got married in March and we did the pool side reception but it was based on the type of bar we got and then per person/per hour (I was also dealing with Eugenia as I got married in Akumal). We got the Special Bar and paid $11 per person ($5 the first hour, $3 for the remaining 2 hours). We also were able to order anything and everything - not just the cocktails listed for the type of bar. I would just write back and try to clarify that you want the reception?

Anyway, I hope you get it figured out...

Jill

Thanks, I've emailed her back today to try and clarify the price per person and see what she says, fingers crossed it hasn't changed.....Did you have less than 40 guests at your wedding? Or has anyone had the poolside reception with less than 40 people and still paid per person? Also if there were children there did you have to pay the same price for them even though they aren't drinking alcohol?? Has anyone from UK thats getting married later in the year been quoted per person for a group of less than 40? Sorry for all the questions I'm starting to panic a little now!!

Has anyone used the dolphinarium on site?

Thanks guys for all the information you keep putting up and the reviews its keeping my mind at rest at least knowing that everything seems to work out well in the end.x

Hi Ladies - i've seen a lot of debate on BDW regarding starfish and people being allowed to bring them into Mexico for their decor. I'm wanting to use them for my chairs during the ceremony but I dont want to run into trouble with customs etc.

Have any of you past brides brought these in? Is there a way to bring them without getting them taken away? OR is there somewhere i can buy them in Playa Del Carmen?

I want to bring shells in for decor as well, I have been trying to do some research on the topic but I havenâ€t been able to find any definitive answers yet so Iâ€m hope someone knows too. J

When I was there in January there were these starfish available for purchase at the Hacienda.

When I'm down there in August do you want me to see if they are still there and how much?

For the dolphinarium, I didn't use it, but I took pictures of a couple who did (one of the perks of flying in your own photographer!).  They had a blast.

I bought a bag of seashells from Michaels and brought them with me. We didn't have any problems getting them there, but I was unable to find any definitive answers either.

Sunshine- I bought 4 of those exact Starfish to Mexico and custom didn't have any issues when they searched my bag! I just told them everything in my suitcase was for the wedding. I Bought them at Michaels with a 40% coupon, so you should see if they are still available. If you can't find them then check eBay :)

Ooo! That would be great Tlseege! I would really appreciate! I'll need ones that are 8"-10" - so if they have them there I'd love that and then won't have to risk getting them taken away if I bring my own. Plus they're prob much cheaper down there too!

Thanks Cynlee! I'll check with Michaels...but last time I looked they were $6.99 a piece! I need about 10 or so - and they're way cheaper online. Hopefully Tlseege can see if they have the same ones down there - and how much they are. Then I can decide which is the best way

I have added it to my list of things to document while I'm down there.

Since I'm editing the list, does anyone else have anything else they'd like me to find out information on?  I can add it to my tour posts on my blog that I already have, or just post it back here.  Let me know!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
