Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

We signed the papers here about a month prior. I wanted to do it closer to the departure date, but because my FI works on the rigs and is away most of the time it was difficult to schedule.

Just out of curiosity - for those of you ladies from Canada who got married first before you went to Mexico - how close to the wedding did you make it legal at home?
I know if you're having the symbolic ceremony down there they don't need to see any documentation but just wanted to make sure.

Sunshine2680, we were legally married in Canada about 1 month prior to departure. Our friend/minister who happens to be a lawyer as well married us and he said to be on the safe side, 1 month prior for all the paperwork to be filed. About 10 days after we received a notice from the Government of Quebec stating we are legally married as of Mar 24. I hope this helps.

Aquamaniac

Don't worry about the rain.  I am making the weather the last of my worries.  I am thinking of it as a positive....if it does so happen to rain it will hopefully cool things down a little.

Well to be honest I think I am just over the whole planning!  I didn't have anyone to help with any of my projects because my family lives in another state.  I am just ready to walk down the aisle and party it up with friends and family.  My job has been very stressful and I am just ready to get away and relax.  woot.gif

Aquamaniac, honestly do not worry about the rain. A week before our departure I was checking the weather in Playa del Carmen like crazy, like 5x a day! Weather Network kept saying for the day of our wedding (May 3) there would be a chance of thundershowers (1-3mm) and even for the days before the wedding. But we were there for 14 days and we had ZERO precipitation, it was sunny & HOT all the days we were there and on our wedding day it was the hottest day of the week at 41°C (105F). We actually prayed for some clouds to give us some better photos but it was sunny with blue skies. Plus there is a saying that rain on your wedding day brings the couple good luck :) I hope this helps calm you.

Nikki17 I was the same as you. I live in a different province from my girlfriends and my now-husband was too busy with work to assist me in the major planning. A week before I was just tired of planning and just waited until I got to the resort to work out the finer details. And everything worked out for us so I'm sure it'll be the same for you and your almost-husband! :) Good luck and enjoy the stress-free vacation!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
