Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I have a minor issue...2 weeks ago Maria told me to give her dinner selections for my group. She wasn't specific at all so I sent an email back with additional questions and when she didn't reply after 1 week I decided to email my group and ask them for dinner selections: 1 appetizer, 1 soup, 2 main courses, and dessert. I finally finished compiling the information last night and sent it to Maria. To my surprise she emails me back within a few hours and told me that the entire group has to have a set menu. Well why were you not specific before I had wasted my time collecting information? We're a group of 29, and since this dinner counts towards 1 of 3 à la carte dinners, I would think my guests should be able to choose what they want for dinner as long as the selections are made in advance. I tried to call Maria but of course no answer and no voicemail. So now I'm assuming I have to choose a set menu but I'm still confused on why 2 main courses and in Maria's email she said, to choose one at the restaurant...does any know what this means?

How to choose a set menu:
* 1 Appetizer
* 1 Soup
* 2 Main courses (to choose one at the restaurant)
  IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are more than 30 people you have to choose
  only one main course, please.
* 1 dessert (As a dessert you may choose the wedding cake for all group
   with no extra charge, instead of dessert plus wedding cake)
* Please be so kind to choose you favorite flavor for your wedding cake (chocolate, vanilla, cheesecake, 3 leches (3 milk), and raspberry)

Same menu for all group wedding party.

So you'll look at the menu for the restaurant and select two main courses.

So, if you were eating at Dolce Vita (for example) you'd select two options... Filet of Beef ala Romana and Chicken in a Pamiggiana Style.

When your guests arrive at the table for dinner, there will be a menu at their seat.  This menu will list the appetizer you chose, the soup, the two main course options that you selected above, and the dessert.  Waitors will come around to each table during the appetizer round and ask what main course everyone would like.  They get to choose one of the two listed on the menu.

Does that make sense?

 Thanks Tlssge! This makes so much more sense. We are having our reception at Portofino restaurant. What would you recommend? What's in the Italian Appetizer?

And for dessert do guests get dessert and wedding cake?

The appetizer is actually a buffet!  It has probably 20 different things that people can choose from!  LOTS of food!

For the dinner, I had chicken gorgonzola I believe and it was delicious!!!

The dessert was an ice cream puff pastry type thing that I wish I could eat every day!  And yes, the cake is still included.

 Most likely yes. I was told that fake flower petals are now allowed. I opted for bubble wands for my guests. :)

If I bring or provide confetti for guests to throw after the ceremony does it have to be biodegradable?  Thank you!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
