Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I usually leave about $2-$3 USD /day for the maid service - what I do is buy these mini coin envelopes and print labels in english/spanish -thanking them for servicing the room. I'll see if I can attach below...

As far as the bar service goes..I would maybe throw them about $3-5 USD every couple of days. You aren't required to tip them..but if you're consistently at the same bar...with the same bartender its nice to show them the appreciation every once in a while. I've also noticed you get better service when you tip them.

Anyone else..like the wait staff at the restaurants...maybe just leave $1 here and there if the service is good.

Can anyone give me tips on tipping? I haven't been to an all-inclusive resort before and wondering how much cash I should bring per week. We'll be there for 2 weeks total. We're planning on doing excursions during our honeymoon week, but will mostly charge excursions to our credit cards. How much tip do we leave per day for maid service, and how much tip do we give our waiters/bartenders etc...

Thanks!!

7 Days until I am in Mexico and 10 until our wedding!!!! GAH! So close! So excited!

Last minute questions....

Continuing on the tipping - How much would you suggest tipping the DJ? (We are having him for 3 hours for the poolside reception).

Payment - I know that all wedding costs (minus the DJ of course) will be applied to our room charges... can we split the cost on different credit cards? The sets of parents are sharing wedding costs and it would be much easier if the resort could just split it there than having one couple pay the whole cost and then have the other write a check or something.

Airlines - Do you think I need to call the airline in advance and ask about carrying on my dress or just let them know as soon as we get to the gate in the airport?

Oh man, I know I am going to have like a million random questions running through my mind the next few days... so forgive me if I keep asking random little things and if I repeat myself, or someone else. You girls have all been such a HUGE help this past year... I don't know what I would have done without this forum!

Thanks,

Jill

Oh my you must be bouncing off the walls. I'm still 38 days from departure and I'm already waking up in the middle of the night with anxiety. Which DJ did you hire?

Which airline are you flying with? Most airlines will allow you to bring your dress/suit onboard. We're flying with Air Transat and they've upgraded us to their version of first class and have already told us that it's no problem for my dress and fiancés suit to come onboard. I would call the airline ahead of time to double check, just so you have peace of mind. :)

They should be bringing drinks to you at the table during the meal.  They did at our wedding, and at every al la carte restaurant we went to.  They usually bring drinks to you at the buffet but sometimes they are slow there so we went to the bar once or twice.

We just went with the resort DJ as we heard pretty good things about him on this board. I just need someone to play upbeat, fun music and take a few requests here and there and it sounds like they can do that... plus it is seems like so much less hassle bringing someone else in. I just told my WC I wanted the DJ and that was it :)

We are flying Delta... you are probably right, I'll just make a quick call and then not have to worry about it any more :)

33 days until we leave!!! Thank you to everyone who has answered questions and given suggestions!! I know I will be asking a million more questions in the next month....haha!!

The only question I can think of right now is: did any of the past brides NOT get the room upgrade when they asked?

Thanks :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
