35 days until my wedding... I'm so excited!!!

I have spent the afternoon working on little things for the wedding, like designing the table numbers for the dinner seating chart. Anyway, I am very excited about how things are turning out and coming together, and since you all have been such a help and inspiration I wanted to show a little sneak peek of what I was working on today :) (I'll have to take pictures and screen shots of the rest of our paper stuff to post at some point to share as well). Enjoy :)

Hey ladies! We got back from our wedding at the resort last Saturday, and holy crap, it was amazing! Here's some info:   We got married at the Tulum gazebo and our coordinator was Jazmin. Two weeks

We had our wedding dinner at Portofino and it was amazing. There is a raised area in the center of the restaurant where you and your guests will be seated. They had an appetizer/salad bar as well which was amazing. I pretty much filled up on that before dinner! The mushroom soup was the best I ever had and the chicken was also delicious. Good choice. ;)

Can past brides give me a running order of their day with times. I.e ceremony, cocktail hour (if necessary), dinner etc etc. What you did between these things to make it run smoothly.

 

I have been given a 2pm time for ceremony at tulum gazebo and 6pm at gran tortuga. I am so happy that Jazmin has got back to me with a date where we can have the options we were hoping for but just worrying that there is too long in between the ceremony and dinner. One bride has been in touch suggesting that after the photos are done we have drinks with our guests whilst the guitar trio play which we really like the sound of but just wondered how other brides days flowed or for future brides how they plan to organise their day. 

 

Also any brides who did not pay for the evening poolside reception - what did you do instead. Where did you go? Still undecided about what to do and whether to have the reception or not.

 

Finally any websites for boat/catamaran excursions.

Hi everyone,

 

This site was so helpful picking GBP for our wedding this year. We just confirmed our wedding for Nov. 29th at 1pm at the Akumul beach location.

 

@fraggle42 I was also concerned about having my wedding at 1pm and then waiting so long for dinner. I think a 1 oclock might not be to bad, this will give everyone a chance to relax or even take a swim before dinner! This can leave a good amount of time for pictures :)

 

I have not picked a dinner location. Past brides any suggestion?

 

How much does it cost to have a pool side reception?

I've been looking over the Gran Bahia website ....can anyone tell me if the Tulum, Coba and Akumal are all in the same location (can walk from one resort to the other) and which is the newest one? I had originally thought that Coba (set back from the beach) and Akumal (right on the beach) were in the same location and that Coba was the newer one....but I assumed that Tulum was not part of this area? If it is can someone advise, which resort is better and why? I'm ideally looking for book at the newest one...

 

 

I'd just like to be able to pass this info along to my guests so they understand where to be booking etc.

Help!!

They are all the same resort, and all within walking distance.  Tulum is the oldest, but almost all the rooms have ocean views or are very close to the ocean.  Less than a two minute walk to the beach and pools. 
Further south down the beach is Akumal.  There are only four or five villas in Akumal that are beach views.  The rest go into jungle views.

Coba is the newest resort and is all suites (has a living room area in every room), however it is a 10 minute walk to the beach or a five minute trolley ride.  None of the rooms have a view of the water.

Oh, and as for that 10 minute walk I actually did time it.  From villa 9 to the Akumal beach location (next to the Hammock wedding location) it is a 10 minute walk at a somewhat brisk pace.  On our way back, it was 12, but we stopped to take some pictures of the iguanas :)

      Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010.       Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations.
