Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I would love to know about the sound quality too. This idea appeals to be because I am not keen on dance music which I believe is what the DJ plays. We could get our guests to request some of their favourite songsto dance to to add to the play list. How many people are you having at your poolside reception and for how long? What have they quoted you if you dont mind me asking.

I haven't posted in quite awhile, so I thought I'd stop through and play catch up. From the looks of it, wedding planning is still in full swing for everyone awaiting their wedding day...I can't believe 2012 is here already, seems like there's SO much to do on my end and so little time! I found my dress a week in a half ago and now I'm currently working on our wedding website and save the dates. I haven't been in touch with our WC in over a month; however, the last she got back to me was in regards to the poolside reception. I inquired about the cost involved with bringing our own music (CD or ipod) and she quoted $60 per hour for the CD/ipod docking station, speakers (30 PAX) and microphone.

Have any of the previous brides ever opt to bring your own music for your reception? If so, could you tell the difference in the sound quality of the music as opposed to using a DJ?? Your help is greatly appreciated!

We are having a poolside reception and we are paying for the cheapest options ($5 per person for the first hour $3 pp for each additional hour). Were hoping they serve everything though, that happened to a few past brides... For the dj we were quoted $210/ hr, but we went with dj bijan, for our 3 hour reception we are saving almost $100 by going with him... + we are emailing him a list of songs to make sure he has them.

Hope this helps!

Does Dj Bijan bring in lights and speakers too? Or will you have to rent them from the resort?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
