Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

That really sucks it would be so much!! I guess I got lucky with my 2 photographers. My first one agreed to do it just for the cost of her trip but once she got pregnant I had to find someone new! I finally found someone 3 months before, Vina, she did it for the cost of the trip and fees and taxes etc so I paid $1650 for her and she took 1200 photos in total (not sure how many I will get out of that) but she said I would get AT LEAST 400 edited photos all on disc. She did all the work herself, she paid for her hubby and he took a few photos ha ha hes not professional though but knows the basics lol

But arrecife is good!!! Very expensive though. What you might be able to do is see if ontop of the 180 edited photos if they will also give you all the raw images as well and maybe you can find someone to edit ones that you like that way if you want more you can.

I just feel like arrecife knows the area so well they will do a great job.  I know I would get more pictures per dollar if I flew someone in, but then it would be at least a few more $1000 dollars.

My question was more of realistically how many edited pictures do I really need.  It seems most people get about 100 photos, so I just figure if I go with the basic package then add on reception coverage and a TTD I will end up buying a bunch of extra pictures and it will end up going to $3000 anyways...so maybe I would be better off with just getting a package.

AD2012- I got a video done by Arrecife and it turned out amazing!!! I only got a 15 minute edited DVD of just the ceremony, I had to get my TA/Wedding planner to help with the emails and talking to them, they wanted to charge me $780 USD cause they werent understanding what I wanted. SO anyway lol I got them down to $400 USD. Just had video of my wedidng party walking down and then me then the entire ceremony all the way through as is then they shot the walking away and bits of the toast and stuff, they used my songs I had for the ceremony as they were played and edited it to beautifully that I teared up while watching it and I didn't cry during my wedding ha ha They let you view it before they give it to you in case theres something you don't like. I loved it though

I would also have to agree with the other girls, what Arrecife is charging for 180 photos is extreme! We're paying $2500 flat fee for our photographer which includes the wedding day and TTD.

If you feel that a 100 photo's will be enough, then go with them. I personally don't feel like a 100 photo's would be enough, I hope to have hundreds of special moments that are captured throughout the day. I think it will be hard to put a number on it.

Don't sell yourself short, look into it more.  You never know what you will find.

You have to do what you feel is right though!

Andrea - Tlseege is soooo right. Its not too late...again - not sure where you're coming from but I bet you any $ you can find someone to go. If you have a decent number of people in your group booking you should check in to see if you get any 'free' fares because you have 'X' amount of people booked.
We're from Canada and booked with Sunquest..and with every 11th person booked we get a 'free' fare...so because we have 33 people coming we get 3 'free'

so we're applying our photographers fare to one of the three.
I just don't personally think 180 pics is going to be enough for you for the entire wedding day and TTD. But its your call - if its plenty for you then go for it.

With that said, I think Arrecife does a nice job.  I just wish they weren't SO expensive and that they didn't WAY over photoshop their images.

100 Photos isn't much, but as long as you LOVE all 100 of them, you should be able to make an album out of your images.  I typically make my albums to only have the best of the best photos in them.  I do not include formals (Everyone lined up, insert this relative and then that relative, etc) in my books.  So with just the best of the best photos, I usually use around 100 of them.

ACTUALLY!  Cheryl's wedding slideshow has EXACTLY 100 images in it!! http://blog.faberphotography.com/cherylaaron.

Maybe if you check that out you can see if 100 images is enough for you.  Although that doesn't include the trash the dress, or the formals.

Thanks for the info Crystalz.

Jazmin gave me their contact info a couple of weeks ago and I emailed them, but haven't heard back yet.

Did you find they got in the way your photographer?

Nope! We had the resort photographer and my own photographer and videographer and no one was in anyones way. Videographer stays on one side then for the ceremony he was right beside the judge filming, he didnt really move til it was time to go back down the aisle

I am from Fort McMurray so we were limited in travel companies, we ended up going with Air Canada and they don't offer much bonus for groups.  Sometimes this whole wedding plan stuff gets really overwhelming!

Also Trish I noticed you added me to the brides roll call..My wedding is actually March 1 haha.

Air Canada should be giving you the same type of deal that I got. I went to an AMA Destination Wedding Seminar and they practically gloated about Air Canada's free passenger program. I don't think its every 11th person but i know they have it for a different #. Bug your TA..it's worth a shot. Are you guys flying right from there? Or coming into Calgary?
Check out my photog..he's amazing and the last time I talked to him..his only destination wedding this year so far is ours in November...Obviously I don't know the rest of his schedule but you never know

So not sure if any of you have had issues with Mexico being called too dangerous to travel to, but if anyone tries to tell you otherwise I came across this article a friend posted on Facebook, its really well written with a great sense of humour, and it has very good stats that put things in perspective.

Good article! Ya...not sure about the rest of you but I'm having to calm a few of my guests down. Mostly the ones who have never been to Mexico before. Its soooo irritating because there's really no need to be worried. The media freaks everyone out for no reason!!
There are risks EVERYWHERE you go! You think people are never going to book a cruise again after what happened in Italy? Course not!
I'm not saying ignore the news but just learn from it and be smarter when you do go down to Mexico. You're not going to go wandering your city's downtown area all by yourself at 3am - why would you do that in Mexico?
Its just common sense..and taking certain precautions

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
