Thanks.

Hi ladies!!!

I haven't posted in quite awhile, so I thought I'd stop through and play catch up. From the looks of it, wedding planning is still in full swing for everyone awaiting their wedding day...I can't believe 2012 is here already, seems like there's SO much to do on my end and so little time! I found my dress a week in a half ago and now I'm currently working on our wedding website and save the dates. I haven't been in touch with our WC in over a month; however, the last she got back to me was in regards to the poolside reception. I inquired about the cost involved with bringing our own music (CD or ipod) and she quoted $60 per hour for the CD/ipod docking station, speakers (30 PAX) and microphone.

Have any of the previous brides ever opt to bring your own music for your reception? If so, could you tell the difference in the sound quality of the music as opposed to using a DJ?? Your help is greatly appreciated!

shellee,

Maria is also my WC! She is great, very professional and will answer all of your questions; however, if your wedding date is too far in advance, she may not respond until weeks at a time. I've found that the  WC focus their time moreso on the weddings that are currently approaching. The advice I was given by others is the same advice I will give to you...do not stress and be patient when hearing back from the WC. Most of your questions can be answered here on this forum (and the OFFICIAL Gran Bahia Principe Riviera Maya Thread) while you await an answer from your WC.

Hope this helps!

Our building was Villa 67, perfect view of the ocean and beach! And we had flat screen TV in ours, I noticed some of the other buildings had the tube tv's. We were in the royal golden section in the Akumal it was about $40 extra per person and our perks were; a whole separate check in that has a bar in it and they give you a welcome drink. The "golden lobby" as its called is right close to the beach, there is also a private sort of beach right near our villas, its for everyone but its much quieter than the other beaches you can see it from my room (all the pics are in a link in the review... the link to my review is in my signature), you also get 4 al a cartes rather than 3... I'd say it was definitly worth the extra $40 for us at least :)

I was in Club Golden in Akumal.  It was totally worth it because we got a building right on the water.

Coba is different since obviously there is no water anywhere near by.

I actually dont know what buildings are club golden in Coba, but the lobby is near buildings 27-26, so maybe those??

When I stayed at Coba I was in building 9.  It was VERY close to the jacuzzi pool and the main pool, but further away from the lobby.  With that said, because it wasn't by the activity pool or the lobby, it was very quiet.  We met quite a few people who asked to have their rooms moved due to noise near the lobby areas.

So I got back from our wedding on Friday! It was amazing, I could not have asked for anything more. I will write a full review soon, however I was assigned to jury duty on Monday and the trail is expected to go into next week, plus I am trying to catch up on work so I do not have very much free time. Trisha was our photographer and was amazing! I am so excited to see the rest of the pictures.

Maria was my WC, I found that when I first booked and about 6 months before the wedding when I would email her she would get back to me right away. However, the closer I got to the wedding the longer it took her to get back to me which I found strange, but it all worked out. When I arrived at Coba they gave me a envelope of things with a letter from Maria and we met with her the next day. She had everything that we had talked about (however, she did have the wrong picture of the flowers I requested, but the next day I gave her my decorations and she had the correct picture then) She did a great job you have nothing to worry about.

We stayed at Coba and I had given my WC a list of everyones name, we were all in Villas 23  & 24. Our balcony was facing the quite pool which was nice because that is where most of our guests were hanging out so everything time someone new showed up it was easy to find everyone. I found it to be quite and we were not far from the lobby and main buffet, we had a flat screen tv but I know all of our guests did not, it was kind of hit or miss, we were almost the whole villa and I liked that everyone was really close to each other.

Also here is the link for the pictures that we got from the resort photographer, they did a good job, but I was kind of upset the way he was in the middle of our ceremony, standing right in between us and I felt like he was blocking us from our family and will be in all of our other pictures, so if I had to do it again, I think I would have just asked for them to not take pictures because I am sure that Trisha could have gotten all the ones that he did...

Those are great pictures.  You're a beautiful bride. Can't wait to read your review.  Good tip about the photographer. Are we allowed to ask for no resort photographer? Or, will they just come anyway? Thanks for the tip about the Villas.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
