Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Trisha bet that was amazing, not surprised you shed a tear as it would have been re living your special day too. Bet you were so excited to go back.

When you say about the white paper lanterns with candles in lighting the walk way, do they supply them or do girls bring them?

This is starting to worry me a bit! I dont know much about the wedding side to this hotel and only have till April. Carnt wait to hear back from weddings and at least have a date confirmed!

I stayed at the Coba 2 years ago so I do remember the jacuzzi pools...the candles around them sound beautiful!  I bought these big paper pom pom things in different sizes to be strung up above the area.  My MOH also made wire and crystal dangly ornaments to string up...they shimmer and sparkle in dim lighting.  Do you know what the back up plan for a poolside reception is if it's raining?

I might have even let a tear fall!

Ah yes.  Then that's what Cheryl had for her wedding.  Dinner at Portofino and then walked to the jacuzzi pools for the reception.  It was so fun (well, for me as a photographer it was!).  So do you know what the jacuzzi pools look like?  Obviously I'll have a ton of pictures, but I know your wedding is coming quickly.  We saw two receptions there.  The first was Kristi's but sadly hers was rained out and then Cheryls.  For both they had tall cocktail tables with white linens and ties around them (Cheryl's were orange).  Then they had rope lighting on the umbrella palplaya thingies and chairs around the rim of the area.  They also had white paper bags with candles in them lighting the perimeter of the pool and the walkways.

They are white paper bags with candles in them.  And they are supplied by the resort. For Cheryl's wedding they had big balloon pillars at the entrance as well.  Sadly Kristi's was rained out before those were put up, but I assume they would have been there as well.

Yup, the backup plan is the Music Bar.  It's the bar inbetween the theater and the main lobby. That's where Kristi's wedding reception ended up being.  They set up the dance floor with white balloons and it looked very nice and it was private.

TIseege- thanks for all the pics!!! Did you by chance take a pic of the "Frutos Del Mar" ? :). Also, I ended up purchasing 40 maracas online because we wanted time to paint our names and wedding date on it. Hopefully, wont have a problem taking them to Mexico..... has anyone done this in the past?

Yup, I got the Frutos Del Mar pictures too.

Imagine the Dolce Vita... but with blue rimmed glasses and you basically have the Frutos Del Mar.  I'll post a picture tonight if I remember.

Fiesta is at the Hacienda.  It starts at 7:30 if I recall.  There is a show, contest, dancing and music.  Then at 9:30 is fireworks.

Here is Frutos Del Mar:

Here is a close up of the place settings.  You can see the flower in the middle that is then next to the lanterns for dinner.  The silver chargers get taken away after the appetizer.

So can you only really see the fireworks if you are at the hacienda?

Also has anyone used their bridesmaids bouquets as centerpieces before?  I asked Jazmin about some kind of vase, she said they are $12 from the flower shop...I don't want to buy a vase just to throw it out because I am not trying to bring them home with me.  Has anyone done something other than buy vases, I told Jazmin I would be fine with ANY kind of glass, even a large drinking glass...sometimes I think she doesn't quite understand what I am asking through my emails though.

I couldn't see the fireworks, but I'm sure you could view them from somewhere?

As for the flowers, my bridesmaids just laid them on the table.  Added just a touch of color.  But the glasses really aren't the type you could put flower in.  We tried at Cheryl's wedding, it didn't work out.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
