Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

This is not entirely true.. My ceremony was legal and it was in English. I thought it was going to be in spanish but it wasn't!

The onlt difference i'm aware of is there is less papers to sign at the ceremony and no finger prints (or bloodwork)

1, it will be in English instead of Spanish

2, you won't have to sign and ink the paperwork (although i believe the GBP will do this for you if you'd like)

and then you don't have to arrive early and you don't have to get blood taken.  My sister's cousin-in-law is getting married in Mexico and they are getting married the day after they arrived.  I instantly knew it wasn't legal.

So it really depends on your crowd, but to the normal non researching individual, it'll look legit.

Really?!?!?!  It wasn't translated into English?  But you gave blood and all that jazz right?  That's really weird.  I have never heard of a legal ceremony at the GBP not being in Spanish.  Has anyone else had a legal ceremony in English only?

Yea it threw us all off lol Cause I was under the impression it'd be in Spanish and translated into English but right when the ceremony started the judge began speaking english and one of my bridesmaids was joking around saying "man, i thought my spanish was just really good" ha ha. Yes, Richard and I both did blood work, had the bruise for a week to prove it lol and we signed 5 sheets and finger printed it.

Thanks Ad2012!! I'm so happy to hear that seats opened up for your flight! Were using Maritimes Travel, and flying with air transat. Oh, and yes Eugenia and I are finally talking.... although the replies are quite slow, as expected lol. Does anyone know if you can just rent the sound system +lights for the private reception? I'm a bit scared to use the resort Dj after the last review....

ps- have you had any luck finding photographers yet?

We actually found out today that 6 extra seats opened up for our flight leaving out of Edmonton on May 6th. She has provided us with separate flights & accommodations, they were quite high compared to what weâ€re paying. Which is to be expected.

Are you going through a local agent?

Jazmin gave us the option of Dolce, Arlequin & Frutos Del Mar. Iâ€d ask your coordinator about it. Have you had any luck getting a hold of anyone yet?

Weâ€re with Air Transat too, when I asked our TA about an itinerary I was told that Air Transat doesnâ€t release that information closer to the departure date.

Yes, we found a photographer. We really liked Chrisâ€s work but he a little out of our price point. We ended up securing a local photographer that has done some work for a couple friends.

Iâ€m also interested in renting the sound & light equipment for the reception. Based on the last review and what Iâ€ve read from other posts, Iâ€m not quite sold on their DJ.

Hey Everyone,

I am looking at getting maracas when I'm down there.  I will need around 95.  The wedding co-ordinator wrote back to tell me that they're $8 each at the Hacienda... Is this true?  Has anyone bought them there before?  I swear that I saw a post where someone thought they were cheaper, but, can't find it now.  I'm also wondering if anyone knows if the Hacienda sells starfish?  I'd need about 20 of them.

Thanks,

Sarah

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
