Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

This is for the ladies who have already had their wedding... I am 4 months out from my wedding and have kinda started to get more nervous about the details since I haven't really worried it about it before now, so here are a few of my questions/concerns that I am hoping you can help out with!

1) I don't really know flowers, and overall really am not that particular, other than the fact that I don't like any of the examples they sent in the booklet (have they not updated it since like the early 90s?) If I send a few pictures to my WC of the general idea I am looking for and tell her the color palatte, do you think they will do a decent job? Or should I make a definitive decision and track down the names of flowers and an exact photo?

2) We are staying in the Akumal and I want to make sure we get an ocean facing room... do I need to request this through my travel agent or through my WC? Or both?

Um... I feel like I had more questions but can't think of them at the moment.... oh well, I just post again when I do think of them.

Thanks for all your help!

StylishmeNC - I thought that same thing when I saw their look book for the flowers! It looks so outdated. I wanted a bouquet of roses (pretty basic I know!) in my colours and I sent them a picture of a bouquet that I wanted and added a few small changes like less of one colour and more of the other.  I was told they would paint the flowers to match  my colours and acknowledged the small changes I wanted Jazmin was really good about it.I think when you meet with her she will also go over it with you in person to confirm the colour and the arrangement.  My wedding isn't until May so I'm  not sure how it will turn out. I'm also making a Brooch bouquet now so I'm only using that bouquet for the toss lol.

In regards to the Ocen viewing room you should be able to request this through your travel agent. From my understanding if you've upgraded to the Golden Jr. Suite this should gurantee you a room with a view of the ocean. The upgrade was only an additional $40.00 for our guests and free for us because we were the bride & groom.

Hopefully my input helps! Good luck with your planning.

Megz, I know you won't read this, but best wishes!  I cannot wait to hear how your dream wedding day went!  It'll be amazing, I just know it!

StylishNC,

1. That book is HORRID for photos.  You'd think they'd update that!   What I did for my wedding was found a bouquet that I liked.  I liked the colors and I liked the general idea of the flowers.  I emailed it to her.  It was orchids... it was insanely expensive.  So then i went to plan B and found another bouquet that I liked and sent it to her.  She was able to create something very similar and didn't cost extra.  It was perfect.  I just used the knot (gasp) photo gallery to find a bouquet that I liked.

2.  You will have to book the golden club to get an ocean front room in the Akumal section.  A few of the other buildings have partial views, but trust me... NOTHING like the golden club rooms.

We finally finalized out music last night, and I couldn't be happier with it - it's all meaningful to us, and most of it is unknown songs found on youtube!

Happy planning, and I promise a detailed review upon our return!

It is really hard to look past the pictures in the catolouge and really see the pictures, since everything is so old looking.  I was looking through the arrecife facebook pages and found a bouquet I loved, then when I looked through the catolouge again I realized the same bouquet was in there.  Seeing the same bouquet in a more modern picture really makes a difference, I really think they should update the catolouge!

Choosing my bouquet has been the most difficult part of all this planning, I was 100% set on lilies for mine with smaller flowers, then roses replacing the lilies for me MOH.  Sadly I am questioning myself again I don't know why I can't make up my mind on this.

I had calla lillies... no extra cost BUT they only have white callas. I thought my bouquet was perfect, long stemmed calla lillies and she added pink ribbon to it for me too :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
