Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Megz,

For makeup, usually MAC is the way to go.  The only suggestion I have is DO NOT use mineral makeup.  It looks great in real life, but it's terrible for photos.  It has reflective qualities in it which basically makes it look like light beams coming out of your forehead!  Typically a photographer will notice this and place you elsewhere, but in the sun of Mexico, it's not worth it to try.

I am getting married at the GBP Akumal in May 2012. I was just wondering when you started planning your wedding with Eugenia? I think she's the WC for the akumal side. I've sent her an email almost 2 months ago and she still hasn't replied :(. Thanks for your comment on the blog, it makes me feel better knowing that the WC does know what their doing :)

Cynthia

Hi Cynthia !

Congratulations on your engagement.

It would be my pleasure to help you if I can.

Don't take notice of my poor english by the way (I'm french) and ask me if something isn't clear.

Eugenia is indeed the WC of the Akumal side but you have to send your first email to her responsible:

Did you ?

I received an answer 2 days later. So I encourage you to send a new email to the email address I mentioned above.

She'll send you the information about the wedding packages and most important prebook your wedding. To confirm properly, you'll need to send her your booking number.

I sent my first email 1 year before the wedding.

I'm ready to send you more informations as soon as I know what you need ;o)

Good luck !

Andree

Glad to hear you didn't have much hassle with your photog. Ill be bringing my own also. And I wasnt sure if i should tell them or not. But it sounds like they do what they have to do and they're out. Yay.

Very happy to hear your AHR was a success!

CAN'T WAIT TO SEE ALL YOUR PICS! Not just the wedding ones..ALL of them. So excited!!! Upload as soon as you can and as many as you can! :)

Megz- We used MAC makeup for eyes, and I used Young Blood mineral loose powder foundation and clinique primer, we didn't have any problems with makeup running, maybe a tiny tiny bit but i don't think the humidity made it do that.

TSilva- Ya i brought my own photographer, she was awesome, I just didn't tell the resort, too much hassle. No one even noticed because I had the videographer from arrecife and the photographer for my 10 free photos and all my guests were taking photos. And the WC, photographer and videographer took off like right after the ceremony. I just paid for my photographers trip for a week and she did all the photos (she took 1200 but i assume i'll get around 400 at least or something) all edited on disc for me.

Okay ladies, now that my reception at home here is over (which btw it was a total blast!!) I can focus on uploading my photos! Still haven't got the wedding photos back from the photographer so I think I will do my review and attached my photos of our trip so you can see the resort and how much fun we had ha ha. I warn you, my review may be long ha ha then when I get my photos back I will add them after :)

I promise though I will do my review by this weekend!

Yeah, I saw you on the big day !

Dfranklin,
Have a wonderful trip and a memorable wedding day !
I'm 100% you'll have the time of your life ! Relax and enjoy.

Jemma,
As Sunshine said, you can bring your isle runner. It'll just cost you $$ in petals (8$ per small bag @ the resort). ;o)
It wasn't so difficult to walk with heels in the sand... but it may depend on the shoes ;-D

TSilva,
I found a short video on the web regarding the Mediterraneo : http://community.voyage.tv/_Gran-Bahia-Principe-Coba-Mediterraneo/video/1164078/27970.html

For the brides to be, try to relax. The WC really knows their job... and listen to your expectations, dreams,... So did Eugenia for me.

Hi guys, I am booking a wedding for the week of April 21-28/2012. This is all new to me and I'm definitely freaking out a little bit. We've decided on Gran Bahia Principe with our agent but cannot decide whether to go with Coba or Tulum as the resort for our group of 20 to stay at. We've read that Coba is the newer section of the complex which is nicer, however its further from the beach while Tulum is older but right on the beach. Any suggestions out there on how you guys decided which resort to go with?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
