Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

You're allowed lanterns at your reception - poolside. I'm not sure about the restaurant though. I've seen some pics and the decor is very minimal in the a la carte restaurants.
We've decided to have EVERYTHING poolside (even the dinner) - and Jazmin told me Im allowed hanging lanterns as well as floating ones in the pool. Just as long as I bring my own.

Does anyone know if you bring down lanterns for the reception, will the resort set that up for you? Just curious, is everyone mostly doing a restaurant reception follow by a pool reception?

Do you have to bring your own string to hang up the lanterns or does the resort provide that?  Also I have never heard of floating lanterns before, where are you getting them?

The Hammock Location faces east (if I'm not mistaken), so as long as you get married past noon, the sun will be behind you.  So the only time you'll be squinty is during the recessional, but just smile at your hubby and you'll be fine! :)

Also the reason why sunset pictures don't work at this resort, the sun sets over the land, not the water!

Thanks!! I'm really considering doing a poolside reception ever since your post. We have about 30 people coming right now, and it would be so great to have the privacy and to decorate it the way you want to. Are you hiring a DJ or using Ipod?

I'm pretty sure they will string them up for you - but I'll have to double check on that

there's plenty of places to get them I think - just google 'floating/sky lanterns'

I found some here

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
