Your wedding coordinator will set up your centerpieces and any table decor you have. Just give it all to her at your meeting. I also gave her a picture of the set up and it was done exactly as I wanted. Good idea to provide a seating chart with your place cards as well.

My WC (Jazmin) just recently emailed me about the tables at Gran Tortuga, she told me:

"A good idea will be place card for your guests in the restaurant so If you like the idea please bring them, about the tables just keep in mind we can have square tables since 7 until 10 people max per table and If you have in mind a head table with just 1 face, It is possible but aprox 4 people ( and just 1 kind of this table is able)"

Hope this helps!

SKY LANTERNS:
Hate to be bearer of bad news but I did get an official response from Jazmin a few weeks ago and she said its not possible. I asked her if we used biodegradable ones if they would allow it but she said no - because of the fire hazard.
She said the palapas on the beach are too close and could catch fire.
Jazmin is the WC at GBP Tulum - so maybe those at Akumal will get a different response but I highly doubt it.
Jazmin did say that you are allowed floating lanterns in the pool for your poolside reception. But you do have to bring your own.

Maybe Akumal is different, but we are allowed to bring down lanterns for the reception...I know there lanterns that hang are either electrical wired lanterns and there are also battery-operated lanterns as well... I'm just unsure as to what lighting technique I am supposed to purchase and bring down...or if they just hang the lanterns for decor and not even light them?

Any lanterns that are lit with LED's are fine. It's just the ones lit with fire they don't want. But the ones that float in the pool can use tealites because they're floating on water so its pretty safe.
The ones you release into the Sky - you can't control which direction they go and you wouldn't want it to land on anything and catch fire..even if you try and send them out over the ocean.

Thanks for letting us know. Now, i'll have to think about another idea... haven't thought about the "floating lanterns". Does anyone know if you bring down lanterns for the reception, will the resort set that up for you? Just curious, is everyone mostly doing a restaurant reception follow by a pool reception?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
