Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Could I also have the flower prices? Maria sent me the different flowers, but there were no prices. nagem17@hotmail.com

Anyone have any advice on little touches for the reception/dinner? I have bought some seashells to decorate the tables with, but am trying to think of some little things to personalize everything... Any suggestions would be awesome!

We get married in JUST over 3 months now. I can't believe how soon it is! I just went under the 100 day mark! We have everything planned out I think except the flowers and cake. Does anyone know if we can have them put together some tables for us at the buffet for our first morning there? I would like to have a welcome breakfast of sorts so all my guests can meet each other.

I like the idea of a rehersal dinner the night before - I will definitely message Maria about that.

ALSO, for all of you who are stressed over not hearing from your wedding coordinator, when I first booked, it took a while to hear back from Maria, and I was stressing - sometimes it was a week or longer. Now that the wedding is only a few months away, she emails me back within 24 - 48 hours. I think as wedding dates get closer they focus more on you, so if you have a year or so till your wedding, it may be a while before you hear back from them!

I cant believe it. It seems every time I come on here the price for videography goes up. By the time I get married in Nov 2012 it will be about $1000. I am so annoyed!

Also, I have told by the travel agent that we need to be in resort 5 working days before we get married so really we would be there a week. We were planning on getting wed as early into the holiday as possible. I have noticed on this forum that some brides have mentioned wedding dates just a couple of days after arrival. Am I being given incorrect info by the TA? Is this something you arrange through your TA or through the WC at the hotel?

Also I have noticed that people are sending their WC's pictures of bouquets instead of using the pictured ones. Do these cost extra or are they still including in the package?

If any of you have any useful price lists, bouquet pics, cake pics or other info then feel free to email it to me please at mammpy@hotmail.com

thanks in advance for all your help

So i emailed him back and explained that I was quoted by the WC it was $400USD for a 25 min DVD of ceremony... then I attached the form I got from them that said exactly that, see whay he says. Ya - so frustrating about video. I'm not even bothering to have one. I'm spending A LOT on my photographer and I know he'll capture some amazing moments..thats good enough for us. But everyones different. I'd try to lock in a price ASAP if I were you. Just keep your emails and they can't dispute them once you're there.

Depends if you're getting legally married or not.
If you're not - and just doing a symbolic ceremony - you only need to be there 2 business days before
For legal I believe its 4 business days - but definitely not 5. Not sure where your TA is getting that from.
Once your TA is in contact with Paloma from GBP - they will email you with the available wedding days - so I would just wait to hear from the WC.
Thats what I did anyway.

Not sure about the flowers - I got the pictures from Jazmin and dislike all of the bouquets. I will probably just end up emailing her what I want and asking her to quote me.
If its ridiculous expensive I may go through a florist in PDC.

Hello again everyone,

I emailed the pictures of the bouquets I liked, and they definately said they can do those.

I am not getting legally married there, we are doing a documentation wedding here the week before.  Just saying some words, and signing papers as to legally get married there is a ton of stress I have heard.  So maybe that could be an option for you too, we are not telling anyone about it, as we don't want people to think they are not going to the real thing! lol, plus the cost is outrageous to do all the translations, blood tests ect.  Here it is going to be 200 dollars for our comissioner and 80 for our marriage certificate!

Yes, when I started emailing the wedding coordinator it took a while for a response but now I am less than three months out we are in constant contact!  She gets back to me every 24-48 hours just like the previous girl had wrote:)  So don't panick, you have lots of time!

When they said they could create your custom bouquets, did they give you a price?

No price, as I am sure they will be the same as the ones that come in my package.  I think they charge more if they are quite bigger than a regular bouquet.  I could be wrong, I will check with her but she is off all of September so I am not sure if I will talk to her again in the near future.  The white ones in the previous picture post of mine are ones made by the hotel and they look bigger than the ones I want.

I brought down photos of bouquets I liked and when we met with the WC she pointed out the ones they could do that would still be included in the package price. I think the price is mostly based on the availability of the particular flowers you're requesting...like are they local to Mexico or do they have to ship them in.

I brought photos of my flowers too and she said it was included.  It's if you get fancy flowers like orchids that it starts to cost additional.  My bridesmaids flowers were $36 each and that was for roses and green things... I forget what they were.  My corsages were expensive, but that's because I had orchids.

The Official Gran Bahia Principe Riviera Maya Thread is up and running!  Please feel free to take a peek and let me know if I forgot anything, and also PM me with your wedding date and how long you'll be at the resort so we can update the Bride Roll Call!  It's a fun way to see who's wedding is coming up next and also if you can meet up with another BDW bride while you're there! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
