We are getting married at the Coba. I wonder if they will let me use the hammock location, or if is only for people staying at the akumal.

If you're staying at Coba you can still get married at the Akumal location.  Back when I got married (can you believe it's been three years ago already!!  Geesh!).  Anyway, back when I got married the Akumal lodgers got first choice on location and time, and then Coba.  But it never seemed to be a problem.

Thanks Andree!  The fabric is the $2.99 a yard fabric from Hobby Lobby.  It a satin blend.  I used the 40% off coupon and it was super cheap then!  They also have a lot of really great colors.

I also took that same fabric and had a sash made for my bridesmaid's dresses so everything matched perfectly.  That worked out swimmingly well I must say :)

We are getting married 1/13/12, our wedding coordinatior is Maria, when i first started trying to get ahold of her she would take about a week or two to get back to me which is what i expected from what everyone has said, but lately she has been getting back to me with in 1-2 days and sometimes within 2 hours!

I think we are going to eat at Portofino and then have the pool side reception at the Arrecife Jacuzzi Bar, which Maria says is really close to Portofino.  , which ,

I found this really good website that has a pictures of the inside of the restuarants along with a map of where everything is, I am at work right now the website is saved on my computer at home, i will post it tonight

When are you getting married?

Maria is my coordinator as well. She hasn't returned my email and it has been a week so I guess it is normal. I am gettting married June 5, 2012. I would like to book the Akumal Hammok location it looks beautiful. I think we are going to have a pool party as well. What kind of food is the Portofino serve? How many people are attending your wedding? That would be great if you could post the pictures of the restaruant. This site is so helpful I am cant stop looking at all the forums.

Portofino is Italian, if you want i can email you the three menus that she sent me that our options were to choose from. I dont know for sure how many people are coming i think that there are going to be between 30-40. I am sending out invites with RSVP's in Sept so i will have a better idea then. All of our friends are procrastinators and only one couple as booked, our parents havent even booked anything yet

Portofino is SO good! We had our wedding dinner there and everyone was saying it was the best wedding dinner they've ever had. They have a large appetizer and salad buffet and we had a choice between salmon or stuffed chicken. Both were amazing! The Arrecife Jacuzzi bar, where the poolside reception is held, is literally 10 steps down the path from the Portofino. Since we were all staying at Coba everyone's rooms were super close so quite a few guests changed into more comfortable dancing attire before the party got started.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
