Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I agree about the veil. I got married on the beach at the hammock location and my veil was in my face the whole time. Allthough our weather wasnt the greatest because it was pretty windy and raining as well. The veil was nice in pictures though! But it really did get in the way for the ceremony. I was having to keep pushing it back behind me constantly.

The pricing is very confusing for the poolside reception, which stinks.  Basically, the dinners include an hour (maybe two of drinks) but there is a 50 person minimum.  I had the Grill option which is a 35 person minimum but they told me I couldn't have it for my wedding because it was plastic silverware.  Honestly, I didn't care!  I wanted my reception outside and I couldn't very well magically come up with 15 extra people!  So after so pleeding I got the grill option with 35 people (I actually only had 32 people, but I paid for 35).  Turns out, I got fancy china and silverware and the full service bar anyways!  So if you really want your reception (dinner included) out by the pool, as about that option.

Someone asked about a veil.  I had one.  I tried it on the day before the wedding.  I did not wear it.  It was FAR too windy at the Hammock location and it would have been wrapped around my head.  This doesn't happen every day, obviously, and if you're willing to stand on the right side and your FI stand on the left side it might not be as bad.

Natty, if you stay at the Akumal side, your wedding has to be at the Akumal side, which with any sizeable group I'm pretty sure has to be the hammock location.

well ladies, I leave for GBP in 12 hours!!! I cannot believe how fast it got here.....ya, ya I know they all say that. Any way thank you to all of you past brides for all of the advice and info. Honestly I got more info on her than the resort website and wedding planner. The WP are basically just order takers.

For all of you future brides, I am having the Akumal hamock beach ceremony and then pool side dinner and dance so I can let you know when I get back how it all works and what it costs. I will be back in two weeks. We are having our honeymoon at the Eldorado Royal Casita Suites.

.......here we go.....wish me luck!!

ah ya im totally opposite. we live close to almost all of our family and A LOT of them are b******g about us marrying in mexico and the price blah blah blah, so the reception better shut them up! lol we're having a videographer as well so we can play the ceremony at the reception

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
