cdunn514 - What I'm planning to do is choose the cheapest drink option.  The wedding coordinator said if we want additional variety of drinks, we could bring our own bottles of alcohol and the bartenders will serve it to our guests.  So we are planning on renting a car, going to some store and buying some bottles of alcohol.

I know from the website on http://www.bahia-principe.com/BP/Resorts/Resort/VivirLaNoche/Tulum , the disco closes at 2:30 pm. According to our wedding coordinator, the disco opens at midnight.  But I read from people on this forum that there is live music at the Hacienda, which you can enjoy until the disco opens.

Thanks, I guess we will just have to figure it out once we are there, I was trying to figure out how long to have the poolside reception. We are getting married on a friday the 13th also, everyone keeps giving me a weird look, like why would you choose that date, I think it is fun!

Anyone going to be there between May 8th and May 22? My wedding day is Friday the 13th of May. Scary! Good thing is, if something goes wrong, there is copious amounts of tequila close by!!

Wesjor: You were quoted $1000 for your private cocktail reception at what level of alcohol/open bar???

I am getting married at Akumal in November and was quoted like the other women were quoted ($24/per person for first hour) for best level...

Also, is anyone having their dinner at the private location (outdoors) as well (vs in one of the restaurants)???

Thanks,
Dara

Hi - I am at the Akumal in November as well also inquiring about a pool side reception - just received a quote today but getting information is like pulling teeth so far.  I am not entirely sure of how this works yet so if you have any information to date please do share!  I was told a minimum of 50 ppl.

I am not entirely pleased with the venue options for the ceremony that I was offered - I would love the Gazebo but it wasn't offered and have to only the beach; the other venue was not big enough for my guests.  If anyone has any suggestions as to other venue's I should be pushing for I would love to hear them.  Thanks!

gabby1182-

We were in Riviera Maya in Jan and we went deep sea fishing, we booked it through lomas travel, they had a desk in our lobby and were booking a bunch of different tours, I dont know if you are booking your trip through a package like apple vacations or fun jet but if you are they will have someone in the lobby that you can book your trips through. Anyways we had a lot of fun, and in jan. everything is out of season and we still caught 6 fish. There boats were nice and big enough for up to 6 people plus crew, we had 4 on ours. i do not know the name of the actual fishing company that we used but i do know that is who we booked it through

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
