Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies, I know I haven't been a very active member, but I check this thread almost every day. I have a question for the brides that have already been married. What portion of the wedding do the photographers actually take the photos? I am bringing my best friend who is a photographer and she will be taking most of the photos. The package we chose includes 10 photos and I would like the photographers from the resort to take the group photos so my friend can be included as a guest, but I don't even know if that's possible. By the way ladies, I am getting married at Tulum Gazebo on June 1, 2011. Anyone looking for a photographer between May 29 and June 6 feel free to let me know. My friend just received her Master's and has a photo that is published in the Master's of Photography book that circulates throughout the world. I am just a little proud! Congratulations to all the upcoming brides! Looks like there are at least 4 of us that will be there the same week getting married. Time is getting soooo short!!! YIKES!

Gemma OMG so soon till your wedding!!!!  I can't believe Maria hasn't got back to you....Bridezilla needs to make an appearance I think.....4 weeks is no time & she should've given you all details by now.  Jazmin on the Tulum side has emailed me 3 times this week to finalise details & we have 10 weeks to go....I would definitely email Paloma.  I know all past brides say not to worry as they are fantastic when you are there but you need some reassurance before you arrive!!  Good Luck Honey xx

Congrats to your friend on getting her Master's :)  I would love her to take my photos but unfortunately we are seriously over budget....I am going for the basic package with resort photographer & then my non professional....lol....cousin is hopefully going to take as many as he can & see what we get!!

Yes I think you are right 4 of us there at the same time....we should definitely all try to meet up at some point & say Hi!!  Coming round so quickly now!!

The photographer will come and take shots of you getting ready, heading for the ceremony, the ceremony itself and photos after. They did group shots for us since we also had a friend who was our photographer. Just tell them you want lots of group shots and they'll do that for you.

Next worry is the whole DJ thing. I am going back and forth about bringing my own iPod and getting a Bose player that I can keep forever, or just using the resort DJ, or using my iPod with the DJ sound system. If I use the DJ's sound system I have to pay for the DJ anyway. What to do? Does anyone have any advice?

Lisa do you have all of your flowers set with Jazmin now? That is my next project. Did you chose from the package she sent you or did you send her photos of your own?

Last of my immediate worries is hair. My own hairdresser was going to come to the wedding, but now she may not be able to afford it, so how soon do I need to make appointments for them to do my hair and the bridesmaid's hair for the wedding. Should I ask Jazmin to start booking things now? I also wanted to do a Mani/Pedi day with all the women the day before the wedding, while the guys play golf. So should I start booking those things now through Jazmin or wait until we get there?

So much to figure out! Thanks to everyone on this site I feel like I have a huge group of Professionals to help me through it all!

Gemma: I have never heard from Maria! The only reason I even know Karla is no longer or coordinator is from reading on here. I'm not thrilled at all! I'm glad a lot of things were already decided with Maria, but I would like to know things still are in place with Maria. Has anyone on here heard from Maria? Idk if she feels like my wedding isn't until June so she's not going to worry about getting in touch with me until closer to time or what. But I have not received a single response from Maria. I wouldn't min to get bridezilla on her but would hate for her to not make sure my special day is perfect because I ticked her off. Kind of a hard place I guess. I obviously have read about some amazing experiences and really want to tell myself not to worry about it but its a pretty big deal! And lots of our family and friends are coming so I know we are bringing in a lot of money for the resort. No one in our group would be going if it weren't for our wedding so I really hope I become a priority! Super aggrevated and honestly pretty nervous about not hearing anything! Let us know if you hear anything Gemma!! Amy

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
