Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

They actually 'look' really high but the platform is about an 1' on the toe so the heel looks really high but they're really easy to walk in.  but thanks, I love them too

Tlseege - Beautiful colors for your wedding!  It looks really windy out there.  I wonder if it's usually windy or only on certain days...

I got them off ebay for $30 and I think $5 for shipping.  I have worn them around the house quite a bit to make sure they won't break.  I have had problems in the past with heels. lol...but they seems to be quite strong.  I figure even if they break (hopefully not) I am at least a the resort I can either jsut take them off or grab new shoes from the room.

Here is the seller info, and they came really fast too.

Well ladies I am now one very happy bride to be..........First Choice head office emailed resort & have now honoured my booking as made over a year ago & all of my guests will be together in the Tulum & I will be married in the Gazebo.....stress over for now!!!! phew.......A friend of ours tried to book the Tulum yesterday & was told in the travel agents that the hotel was fully booked with all tour operators, my guess is that First Choice have overbooked Tulum & thought by moving my booking that would free up 19 rooms.....well I wouldn't be moved!!!!....lol

On the DJ thing, DJ Bob is the resort DJ you won't get charged an outside vendor fee for him.  However another bit of great news is that they have waived my $90 fee to use DJ Bijan as again they said as I booked him 10 months ago the charge would not apply to me.  So my advice to any ladies experiencing the same fire off an email that gives them the impression you are a bride on the edge & they seem to backtrack on their policies......lol.....omg I sound like a right bridezilla!!!!  No I have been so calm throughout the whole process its just this week gave me kittens thinking we were being moved to Akumal!!

We are doing a sand ceremony, purely as we have an 11 year old & 3 year old & want to involve them in the ceremony, I have brought the sand from poundland in UK & the vase set from Ikea £25!!  bargain!!  Jazmin has said she will read the reading I found on the internet after the ceremony.

Does anyone who has had their dinner in Le Gran Tortuga know the table layout?  & how many guest can fit around one table?  am trying to organise my seating & have found two different emails from Jazmin one saying I can have 7 - 10 people around a table & another saying 5????!!!!

xx

baileybride2be - your shoes are gorgeous!! I bought blingy flip flops for the wedding and I'm just going to wear them all night. They are really comfortable and I will be dancing all night! haha I still feel like I need some heels with my dress but it will be better to NOT wipe out on the beach. haha  Yes, I'm getting married at 4pm and I'm bringing fabric down too. My colors are aqua and lime. I was going to bring fabric in both colors to add a splash of color. I was going to go with colored chair sashes as well but I actually like the white and I will get some flower petals.

Thanks Trish for sharing your pics!! Your ceremony decoration is exactly what I want so you have been very helpful to me. :-)

Did anyone use japanese lanterns? If yes, how many? One bride on here told me she brought around 24 lanterns (small and large size), so I bought 20 med-lrg size ones. Eugenia said the japanese lanterns were a great idea and to bring down around 80!! haha  I'm not bringing down 80 LED japanese lanterns. It would cost me a small  fortune to have 80 of them.

I don't want to bring too much stuff down with me. :-(

PS - I bought my earrings today to match my wedding dress and they are gorgeous! Now, I just need a bracelet. I'm not wearing a necklace.

We actually had 4 witnesses(2 each). The others were our friends.

cdlillad: I think it's usually pretty windy...never really that calm. During our wedding it was really windy and rainy and starting to storm. My veil was getting in my face, it was pretty crazy! Id say count on wind more than not.

Abbie32... well if it's going to be windy, maybe its better that we both use our own fabric. I would hate to use yours and have it rip or something before you get married.although the colours would probably work perfectly.  Oh well....where did you get the lanterns from?  Who are you travelling with?  I heard there are changes in the way you travel with your wedding dress.  They don't let you use their compartments anymore (for my airline) so you have to be able to put it in an overhead compartment.  Maybe you should just check with your supplier to find out the rules.  The lanterns are a  great idea , and we won't be in the same area so I could still bring them and I won't look like I copied you..lol.  Are you bringin an extra bag? we are only allowed one bag, and it's really expensive to bring down another one so I am trying to bring as little as possible without robbing myself of things I really want.

That said...I am pretty much ready as far as 'buying' stuff to bring down.

Now I am just getting super excited.

Hi ladies,

I am wondering if anyone who got married at the Akumal side had their dinner at the Dolce Vita restuarant and if you happen to have any pictures? I am trying to plan what to bring down for decor and would love to have a visual on what the area will look like. Also, did you do your speeches there?

Thanks so much,

jessica

We just did the basic setup but added the flour petals on the tables...otherwise there would be nothing on them. My husband did his speach here, we had a small group of 20 people so they were all pretty close and the restaurant wasn't super busy so it worked out good.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
