Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I seem to be having a hard time getting a respsone from the coordinators.  I used the email you guys provided to me and still haven't heard back. :)  I know they are super busy so maybe I will give it a little more time, I don't want to be too pushy however it is very discouraging when I have received responses from some other places I have requested information from.  I really hope to hear back about the prices for the private cocktail hour and possibly private dinner.  I know they are super busy, and thank goodness I have lots of time to figure it out.

We are planning on booking a vacation in March at one of the spots we are the most interested in having our wedding.  It would be nice to know if this will be our #1 contender based on the private arrangements and prices.   The other one is the Palladium resorts.

Thanks for all your help so far ladies!

And congrats about winning that contest, that must of been very excitting!

Try emailing groupsmx@bahia-principe.com, and type "URGENT" in the subject line.  I got a response a few hours later when I was first planning our wedding.  Hope that helps!

Hi Wendy, The email address Angie mentioned above is the one that I used.  But I didn't really get specific prices about reception, etc until I booked my hotel there and they officially booked my wedding date.

Does anyone know about those websites that sell dresses for cheaper?  For example, I'm looking at http://www.bestdressprice.com at the prices are really cheap.  It makes me a little skeptical.  However at the same time, if the dresses are really available for that low price...I want to pay the lowest price!

I went to a consignment bridal boutique today and liked the Allure 8627 ivory dress that is selling it for $575 (they told me it was a sample dress from another store that was no longer selling that style).  On that bestdressprice website, I found the same dress for $258!

I ordered one of my bridesmaids dresses from Houseofbrides.com. It was a dessy dress, and it was about $100 cheaper than the store as well. It took a lot longer than they quoted me, and it was not the same quality...definitely a nock off. Don't get me wrong the quality was still alright, I am happy with it, but you can tell fromn the seems and suck that it is not actually Dessy.

Because it was taking so long, I looked into another online store for the rest of my bridesmaid dresses and heard good things about dressforlessbridal.com.  The customer service is definitely a lot better, and the price was about the same as houseofbrides. I am still waiting for the dresses to arrive though so I can't speak for the quality. Although, the guy I spoke with on the phone assured me they were real Dessy dresses.

I'll keep you posted.

Hello All!  I am so thankful that I found this site, it's been so helpful in the beginning of  planning our March 2012 destination wedding.  We have decided to book at the Gran Bahi Principe, but are still a bit undecided at which exact resort but are leaning towards the Coba location; It seems to be newer and we like the idea of the three story Villa's.   According to our travel agent it's to early to get prices for the all inclusive vacation( we are expecting 25-35 people)  and while it's to early to book I would like to give people an idea of how much it's going to cost so they can have the down payment ready.  I "faked" booked a trip for this March and it was around $1600.00. for anyone who has recently booked  does that seem about right?  Also I was wondering if anyone had any pictures they wouldn't mind sharing with me.  We are thinking the Tulum gazebo and diner at one of the restaurants with a pool side reception.  I would appreciate any feedback or recommendations and will continue reading the all post on here  ( I started with the most recent and am working my way back )  Thanks again to everyone who posts on here, I was so nervous when I agreed to a destination wedding ( it's what my fiancee has always wanted ) because I have never been in any of the locations before, but after reading all your post my mind is at ease, and I am getting excited.

Hi Pammy,

What city are you flying from and how many nights would they be staying?  The prices seem to change daily.  Occasionally expedia or applevacations will have a sale.

I recently talked to two different coworkers who attended destination weddings in Cancun and they had a blast. So I think it's fun for the people going to the wedding and a good way to have a group vacation.

Hi Christi

We are flying our of Halifax, and staying for 7 nights.   I just finished contacting our travel agent and let her know that we decided to book at the Gran Bahi Principe Coba so she said she would see what she could come up with for prices.  I am VERY exicted!

Congratulations Pammy!

Coba is a beautiful resort, they all are.  You've made a great choice.

I see we have a lot of new brides, so for those who haven't made it back to the beginning of this thread yet, HI!  I'm Trisha.  I got married at GBP Akumal at the Hammock location in April of 2008.  I had a private poolside reception.  I absolutely loved my wedding and wouldn't have changed a thing (okay, that's a lie... but about the actual wedding itself, nope!).  As I am approaching my three year anniversary (where did the time go?) I realize that my information might be outdated now, but I still like to help when I can!  So if you have any questions, just let me know!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
