Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Angie...I loved your pictures!! I'm so relieved the resort photographers are great!!

Did you use their videographer? I would love to see one of their videos. They were supposed to send me a sample video but I didn't receive one yet. I'm going to have to get in touch with them again. If the quality is poor, we should have the option of using someone else. Cancun Wedding Video does an amazing job! I hope it's at least half as good.

I have been to the Tulum resort before and yes the gazebo is BEAUTIFUL, but I've always invisioned my toes in the sand...so we are leaning that direction! We are both super excited and I love getting all the info off this page!

Hi jadk.  The reason I'm booking an external DJ is just because I haven't received any detailed information about the resort DJ.  I like to be involved in the planning and it helps me to actually talk to the DJ.  I like to know how many songs the DJ has in their collection (the DJ I selected has 60,000 songs - includes English and Spanish songs), how professional the equipment is (the company I selected has all updated equipment), how fun the DJ is (he's bringing balloons, masks, glowsticks).  I've been getting really quick and detailed responses from the DJ I'm using (DJ Julian from Mood Entertainment).  And by coincidence DJ Julian is traveling to Houston this week (where I live) and we're going to meet up with him in person this week.  So it gives me a lot of comfort to meet with him and discuss with him what kind of music we like.

Is there a reason for this?  I was told by my wedding coordinator at the Tulum that the price for the private reception includes a DJ (DJ Richard I think.) Thanks!!

No problem!  We had 52 guests, but I think you can request the 3 tier cake regardless of how many guests you have.

Is anyone NOT doing OOT bags? I had it in my head the whole time that I was going to do OOT bags for my guests until I went out and started shopping for them. I have such a large group that I was uncomfortable paying hundreds of dollars for dollarstore and walmart items to fill the bag that they will probably bring themselves. So, I was wondering what wedding favors people are doing? Does anyone know of a cheap excursion for 65 people? haha  We're going to give out maracas as a wedding favor but I was thinking I needed something else. I probably don't need anything else and I'm just being crazy.

One more question... I have 6 bridesmaids and I paid for their dresses and jewellery and bought them flip-flops to match the dresses for the reception. Do I have to pay for their hair as well? The spa prices are pretty steep if I'm paying for 6 people to get their hair done. I was thinking I would rather get them a small gift. What are you doing for your BM? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My FI keeps reminding me how they didn't give much of anything for their wedding and I had to pay for my dress but I think differently and men don't care. hahaha

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
