Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Christi,

I can't believe you haven't seen "Say Yes to the Dress", its great!  Randy is hilarious and work's for Kleindeld's Bridal.  Basically the show is about brides coming in for their dresses.  There is usually a little drama of some sort and the dresses are all gorgeous.

Hey I had 20 people including us and our cake was one level. We also skipped the dessert and just got a larger cake. We had champagne included with our package(2 bottles) and if we wanted more we could purchase more bottles. Two was plenty though as some people didn't drink. DSC03393.JPG

Also, you said that the fruit cocktail was included in the package, but I don't see it listed on there.  Jazmin didn't mention anything about fruit cocktail, only that I could purchase bottles of champagne.  Also, is there any alcohol in fruit cocktail or what exactly is it?

Thanks for all the information!!

futurewifey....your wedding is the same month as mine. I'm getting married June 11 at Tulum gazebo.  How about you?

Angie and Kim - Thanks for the information on the cake.  The cakes look beautiful and YUMMY! I'm getting hungry...haha  I'm planning to tell Jazmin that I want the deluxe Tres Leches cake, because I'm interested in the 3 tier cake.

janette - It sounds like a cool show.  I'm going to be watching the clips online, hope I can get up to speed before Saturday night!

Hey there, I am actually supposed to get married in the Catalonia in 5 weeks and my TA was just on to me now saying that there is some problems with our booking (45 people!!!) and is recommending me to change hotels and go to the GBP instead.

They are checking as we speak to see if there is a availibility for the wedding itself.....freaking it out a bit in here, so I though might try you girls and see if anyone can pass me prices/info for a private reception, DJ, and cocktails?? my email is sara.baeza@bms.com, i dont have enough privilieges to download documents in the web :-(

I emailed you the wedding package prices, pictures of the Tulum wedding sites you can choose from, and the price of some of the extras.  For prices on dinner or poolside cocktail reception, you have to ask the wedding coordinator.  Because she get information on all of the things you will need and then she gives you a total price.

Of course the pictures I sent you are just the ones I received from the resort.  The best pictures are on facebook "Arrecife Studio Mexico".  Also some girls on this forum posted a lot of good pictures.

For flowers, there is a flower catalog which I will email to you.  But I've read on this forum that if you show them a picture of a flower arrangement you like, they do a good job of replicating it.

Quick question for past married couples of the GBP resort.  How did you guys pay for everything (wedding ceremony, poolside reception ect..)?  What's the best option to use, cash, travellers cheques, visa?  I know that some places in Mexico sometimes charge certain additional percentages on certain forms of payment.  Thanks....

I am getting married at the Akumal on April 6th 2011.  I am getting nervous and anxious.  This is a great site for loads of info!!  Has anyone booked or used the DJ for the poolside reception?  This is my plan but we will be bringing our own music...just need the equipment and the coordinator said if we rent just the equipment..we are responsible if anything goes wrong with it.  So I think we will get the DJ, I am just wondering if its actually worth it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
