Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! (No offence to your friend). The title doesn't matter, it's about supporting the bride on her big day!

My friend thought that a bridesmaid can't be married, because that's what her sister told her when she asked her to be her bridesmaid.  Hehehe  Well I told her that she can be my bridesmatron. haha  Seriously if I couldn't pick married people, that would be really strange.  It's supposed to be my best girl friends!

Jazmin gave me a quote for the private poolside party of $540, which includes:

25 guests for 3 hours
- margaritas + piñas coladas + sparkling wine + beer)
- bartender services
- tall cocktail tables, chairs
- decoration (tablecloths, illumination of the palm trees and palapas)

I think the price is the same if I have up to 35 guests.  Anyway this is a little higher than I expected.  So I keep going over budget.

My only hope is that buying a package of 140 photos on DVD won't really cost me $2300, especially if I'm going to pay $400 extra for the photographer to attend the dinner and poolside cocktail party.

Hi Everyone!

My fiancee and I are getting married at the GBP on December 7, 2011. We were really hoping for a poolside dinner and reception, but I'm a little confused because Jazmin has quoted me 3´280usd for poolside dinner and reception, and 970usd for just the reception for maximum of 50 people. Does this seem right? I feel that this quote is a lot higher than she has quoted others.

Hey there Christi i've just about to email Jazmin to double check on pool party prices as $540 would work out as $11 each for 50ish which seems alot if your not having that many?? Traditionally married bridesmaid are called 'Maid of Honor' or 'Matron of Honor'  but its just old fashion she can be whatever you want her to be!! which photographer are you having?

Hello Andree welcome to the site you will find out some great info on here!! We are staying at the Akumal side We are having our wedding ceremony at the Tulum Gazebo and then back to Akumal for dinner and a pool party! When is your wedding? which side are you?

Hi Leafluvr

It sound like shes quoted you for one of the theme dinner which range in price depending on what you chose to eat and drink??? i have the info if you PM me your email address i will send you all the stuff i've got for you to read through!! A Meal in one of the restaurants is included in your wedding package for an unlimited amount of GBP guest, it will also take 1 of their dinner reservations each!! Hope this has helped a bit!

MORE INFO FROM JAZMIN she told us that in our package (Unforgettable) there are only 2 bottles of Moet included which serve around 8 guests each, extra bottles are $93 or sparkling wine $22. Also the wedding cake 'included in the package' is only for 10 people so the options are to have the cake instead of dessert for all the guests or pay extra for a bigger cake!!

If you are doing the legal ceremony and are trying to pick what package you want this info could be helpful!

We chose the "Blissful Love" package which is the middle one for $1350 US. The cheaper package, not sure of what the name was but it was $1100. The difference between the cheaper package and the blissfull love package was only a few things. It included flowers at the bridal table, newlyweds breakfast in bed, a higher discount on the spa services, bridal hair style and trial. I figured this was somewhat worth the $250 extra, as the hairstyle alone was $85.00.

Well the day before our wedding I went to go get a pedicure done and get my hair trial done and when I went to pay they said that the discount wasn't on manicures/pedicures etc. It was only on certain spa services such as massages. So I wasn't too happy about that but not a huge deal as its only a 15% discount.

On our wedding day I went to go get my hair done and after they were trying to charge me for it $85 USD. I told them that the hairstyle was included in my package but they said that only the trial was and they ended up getting the coordinator on the phone since their english wasnt that great. So I spoke with her and she said that sorry it wasn't included in the package. Needless to say I was pretty pissed off about this and it totally stressed me out when I had limited time to get ready. So I just ended up having to pay for it. The wording in the package description I think is pretty deceiving, as it says "Pro Wedding hairdo at the hotelâ€s Hair Salon – The trial Hairstyle is complementary". This makes it sound like the wedding day hairstyle is included(as in your sort of paying for it by getting that package) and that the trial is complimentary with this.

Just thought I'd let you all know incase anyone else out there is trying to decide on what package, I would say go for the cheaper one. Really in the end we ended up paying $250 for breakfast in bed and the flowers....definetly not worth that much at all! Probably worth $80 or so! sad.gif

Hi Amie

Thank you so much for responding. I know Jazmin sent me the quotes for the theme dinner, but there  wasn't any ranges of prices, just what she quoted me. And I'm not sure that I'm willing to spend $4,000 on dinner or that I can even fit that in my budget. On that note, my mom thinks that I should have this dinner if it is a lot nicer than the restaurant, as she thinks this will make it more special for the guest. So I'm unsure of what to do, as I thought it did range in price according to how many people you have, and I don't understand what $4,000 covers. Is there really a lot of difference between the restaurant dinner and the theme dinner to make it worth paying that much? However, I'm also not to keen on the fact that the restaurant is not private, and I would enjoy my dinner to be decorated. I'm not sure if that is an option with the restaurant dinner.

Any information that you can send me would be great! My email is [email protected]

Thank you again

Adele

Hi Adele   I have emailed you all the info i have on both private dinner and restaurant dinner!

I suppose its down to personal preference we are having our meal in the Arlequin restaurant as our budget doest allow for a private one as well as a good DJ so we decided that the drinks and dancing after were more important to us!! We felt that with 35+ people the restaurant will be rather full anyway and i doubt you'll even notice the odd couple in there you be enjoying your own guest far too much! I've read some reviews on here that have said they put other dinners at the other side of restaurant and i believe the tables are decorate but i don't know how exactly but with $4000 i'm sure you can decorate them nicely LOL!!

Which side are you getting married at?

Anyway lots for you to think about hope i've helped! good luck with the rest of your planning give me a shout if you need anything!!

Hi Amie, hi everybody.

Yes, it's awesome to find so many informations and shared photos.

Sorry if I make many language errors but English is not my mother tongue.

I'm also getting married at the Akumal side, but on the beach, end october. We'll stay 3 weeks (wedding + honeymoon).

Weâ€ve already been in this resort and really loved it. But I feel sometimes lost... also because Iâ€m not completely convinced by the "decoration" (restaurant, tables for dinner, dishes, cake,...). I think the 'big' day it won't be such a big deal but... decoration is what I like :-(

We invite about 20 friends from Europe and pay for them flight+hotel for 7 days. This is already a budget...

I don't know if we'll take the dinner in one of the 2 restaurants... and a “theme night†will directly cost $2300 minimum (for only 20 guests).  We prefer the Mikado but it's not sure that all of us can make a regular reservation on that day !

Iâ€m really interested in pictures of the flowers and cake... if somebody...

My email is [email protected]

Amie, how is it going for you ? You seem to be already really well organized ! ;o)

Christi, CanadianKim, thanks for the info !

Thanks Amie!

I went over the numbers after reading the info you sent me, and it seems she's definitely charging me for 50 people when I only have 25-30 people. So anyways, I just sent her an email about it and I guess I'll see what she says. I really think $4,000 is overpriced, so I'll probably go with one of the restaurants. I'm getting married on the Tulum side at the gazebo.

Thanks again for all the info!

Adele

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
