Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi girls,

From what i understood from her email it was the lights around the poles and things i have emailed again to ask if they are available to hire seperately?

This is what she sent originally.....

"if you pay just for the drinks the illumination and lights are not part of the cocktail party, for sure will be service, tables and chairs but not like as I mentioned in my last email because is not in the budget , but If you wish to have it, the cost for everything is 960usd per 30people aprox, so please let me know"

Most of the DJs i have looked at provided lights like disco lights etc i had a look at mood events but cannot view website in english, Jazmin recommended DJ Bob she said he is a real party boy lol he has 10yrs experience and sounds like he knows what he's doing!!

P.S christi i can see your pic lol x

I am hiring DJ Bob, and he said that he always brings lights with him to this resort. I mentioned to to Euginia before that I was hiring him, and she said that was fine. She didn't mention anything about him not being allowed to bring his lights. I think it just means that they will not provide the hotel lights for an outside contractor, but they can bring their own.

Amie:

If I just pay for drinks, then they are not going to decorate the area with the illumination?  Sigh.  I think they are just trying to *encourage* us to use the resort DJ.  I think I will take my chances with the external DJ and dance in the dark...hehehe.

Yep, I just noticed that the Mood Event services website is in Spanish.  DJ Julian from Mood Event Services speaks English fluently (he lived in Hawaii for a few years) julian@moodevents.com.mx  Also you can view pictures on their facebook website http://www.facebook.com/#!/photos.php?id=131359746898303  I'm leaning toward using DJ Julian, because he was so friendly to me when I contacted him and he responded back with so many details.  I can forward you the information, if you're interested give me your email address.  The initial email was in Spanish because I wrote to him in Spanish, but I can translate it for you.  Once he learned that I speak English, he talked to me only in English.

Hey I have a question for you girls.  How are you getting people to commit to coming to Cancun for your wedding.  Did you have to kinda market the idea to them?  So far I only have my parents, sister, FI's parents and his brother, and 2 couples coming for sure.  Is it because my wedding isn't until June 11, 2011?  Do you think that more people will decide later?  I'm just concerned that I'm going to go all out, hire a DJ, mariachis, etc and there will only be 12 of us.  And it's not even an expensive flight for us, it is $364 direct flight from Houston to Cancun (I think 3 hour flight).

She was referring to the DJ lights when she said they weren't included so there will be no dancing in the dark lol!!

Our wedding isn't till November next year so we only having a few guests booked so far i said that most people will have to have at least booked and put down a deposit to ensure a room in the same hotel etc by the beginning of Feb, i put together a small info package where i compared the prices of 1 week, 2 weeks, different tour operators and room options to encourage people to book if they couldn't make or afford one option maybe another would help? I wouldn't worry though you have a while yet they may book a late deal!!

For DJ Bob it is $400 for a 2 hour reception or $600 for a dinner and dance. For the dinner and dance you can use his mic and he will also play dinner music.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
