Thanks Thao! I can't believe your wedding is less than a month away you must be so excited. We celebrated our 6 month countdown and went our for a nice dinner! haha  We're going to do something special on the 6th of every month until we get married. We can't wait!!

The private dinner could be very expensive. I'm just waiting to get the menus for the different themes and work out a total cost of all the other things I have to take into consideration (flowers, decorations, etc.).

Glad to hear the food is good. I guess you're right that you only have one or two choices at a wedding here so what does it matter. I'm hoping that they will be satisfied and not have to hit up the buffet or snack bar but it's a great idea. haha

Thanks ladies! :-)

Is anyone planning an excursion for their guests? I feel like I want to do something nice for my guests but I don't want to spend a fortune. Just curious to see what other people are doing.

Were going to have an 2 optional excursions. One will be a half day of fishing on a boat for the guys and spa day for the ladies. and the other will be for everybody to go to Excaret(sp) for a day of fun. I think its about $90 though- so maybe they can pay their own way unless you have a really small group.

Friends of ours rented a big boat for half a day with lunch included as a gift to their guests, they said it was not very expensive.

Are any of you getting a taxi or small bus to the resort instead of the usual huge bus they take you on? Just wondering because its fairly far from the airport and think some older guests and kids might get annoyed with the long ride and possible drop off's at other resorts along the way?? Anybody know of any good companies that will come and pick us all up for a good price? I got a price on a big limo but they wanted almost $400 for one way trip..yikes

We didn't plan any excursions for guests since we had such a variety of interests...blah, blah, who am I kidding, we couldn't afford it. But we did let our guests know which ones we were planning on doing and welcomed them to join us (at their expense). We ended up taking a dozen people with us zip lining! So fun!

It's totally up to you though. I would have loved to take everyone out on a catamaran for the afternoon but it just wasn't in the budget.

Hi Abbie,

I just sent you the catalogue.  I hope it helps.  As for the meal choice, we could only pick one entree as we have so many people...  I think you can only pick one entree as well???  We are hiring a private catamaran for a half day.  For 60 guests, it was $2600... a little pricey, but I think it will be a lot of fun!  Let me know if you need anything else...

Thao

So we're at 31 guests so we're limited to only 1 entree choice :-(

We do have a couple of vegetarians with us so our options are quite limited. What did everyone else pick for their dinner at Dolce vita? Any feedback from anyone who had their dinner there? Having a hard time deciding just one..help!! lol

So now I'm obviously overthinking every little thing.lol...A lot of people in this thread have suggested to print out all of the emails from the wedding planner and photographer, etc.... For me this would be a novel..do you think its really necessary? There are a few internet cafe's at the resort that I could use if I run into any major problems...what does everybody think?

For the dinner, I'm sure if you have to choose one meal that if someone has allergies/vegetarian etc they could accomodate that. They cant expect someone to eat something that will make them sick. I see the reason for them wanting to do one meal so its alot easier and they dont have to tak everyones order, but if they have a legitimate reason for why they really cant eat the meal I'm sure it wouldnt be an issue. Maybe check with your wedding coordinator before deciding.

I'm having dinner at the Dolce Vita and we only have 20 people so we were able to have 2 choices. This worked out well so we picked one chicken main dish and one vegetarian. The menu choices for the Akumal(italian and seafood) didnt either really appeal to us. I would much have preffered one of the other restaurants, but its not the end of the world. Also just a warning to everyone that for the wedding packages your meal that night in tehe restaurant uses one of each guests meal vouches for the week(they should have 3 or 4). So you may want to prewarn them so that they don't use them all up beforehand. I figured that paying for the wedding package this wouldn't be the case but I had read that on this forum and then confirmed with the wedding coordinator that that was the case.

I'm going to print a few main emails with pricing for the extra(flowers, reception etc). Also just basic stuff such as the wedding package to make sure that you actually get all that is included in what you've paid for. Better safe then sorry I guess. I want it t be as stress free as possible so I'd rather be organized.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
