I would love a copy of that pricelist... if you wouldn't mind sending me a PM with it, that would be awesome. (Or should I send you a PM with my email address? I'm new and relatively clueless about BDW procedures.) Thanks so much!

For those Cdn brides I just wanted to get some confirmation for the legal requirements getting married at the Coba.  I hope that all that is required is our passports and tourist cards and not the long form birth certificates and other notarized documents.  I am getting confused on what resort needs what and want to make sure that I leave myself enough time to get stuff together in case I am wrong.  I am getting married in March 2011.

I'm doing the legal ceremony next month and as far as I know it is just passports, tourist cards and you have to get blood tests done at the resort once you get there. This all has to be done 4 business days prior(we arrive Sunday and our weddings on Thursday). I believe they do all the work for you and the legal fees are included in your wedding package. The blood tests currently are $90USD per person.

Hey ladies,

I'm staying at the Tulum resort but I'm getting married at the Akumal beach location. I found out that your dinner and reception have to be at the hotel where the ceremony is.  I was hoping that I could have my dinner and reception at the Tulum. Anyway, my restaurant choices for Akumal are Dolce Vita and Frutos del Mar. I have guests with severe seafood allergies, so the Frutos del Mar seafood restaurant is out of the question. Is anyone having their dinner at the Dolce Vita?  We are going to have over 50 people, so we can only have one choice for a main entree. It's all pasta dishes and not everyone likes pasta. I just wish there was a little more to choose from. I would love to hear from someone who is having or has had their supper at the Dolce Vita.

I'm looking into a private dinner and reception as well but that could be really pricey with all my guests. haha I'm excited to be making these decisions though because it's all starting to feel very real now. I'm going to hire DJ Bijian as well. I hope he is available for our wedding. 6 months from today will be my wedding day!!!!!!    SO EXCITED!!

Hi Abbie,

We are also having our dinner at Dolce Vita- I thought it would be better for more of the guests than seafood as well. Im also a little nervous to have such a limited selection for the guests. We are only allowed two options for the main dish for them to choose from, one appy, and one soup. Not really happy with it, but the cost of a poolside buffet was alot! and since your having so many guests..yikes it would be expensive.

So excited for you girls! I wish I could do it all over again!

As for the dinners, I wouldn't stress too much about it. The restaurants are all gorgeous and have fabulous food. A typical wedding dinner at home would only have two selections for an entree so I think that's reasonable for the resort to offer the same thing. And it's ONE meal out of your guests' whole vacation so if they're really not satisfied they can just head to the buffet or snack bar before the dance starts! I only had two meal selections for mine and not one guess complained...actually they raved about the food!

I can email it to you. I have the files with the choices. If anyone else would like to see it let me know!

Hi Abbie,

We have 60 people and are having dinner at Dolce Vita as well.  We've picked the chicken dish...  everyone loves chicken- right?  Our wedding is less than a month away.  We are having the private pool-side reception and hired DJ Bob.  I'll let you know how it goes...

Thao

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
