Thanks for all of the info on the poolside reception/hacienda. I had received costs from our wedding coordinator and we only have 18-24 people so it will be roughly $900US for the 3 hours. I've asked her some additional questions and am still waiting for a reply to decide whether or not we are going to do it or not.

I have looked back and read that they do have ATM's at the resort. Just curious if all debit cards will work there? I have TD Bank Debit Card. Also is it US cash that comes out or pesos? Also do you know what the fees are like? I'm really debating how much cash to bring and I'd probably prefer to use the debit machine rather than have a ton of cash on hand. Has anyone had or heard of any problems with stuff getting stolen from their rooms?

No one in our group of 43 had any problems using both the ATM's nor having items stolen. As the bridal couple, you get the safe for free so might as well make use of it.  We brought travellers cheques and used the ATM where we needed.  I think it was like $3 for the transaction?  It's pesos that comes out as that is their main currency :)

Booked the poolside reception!  After reading so many people raving about the reception and how great it was we just decided to do it.  I think that for the guests spending that money to come and see us I want them to feel that it really is like a wedding and pretty much give them what we would if we were at home.  I got a really good quote from DJ Bijan and he was available on our date so he is booked as well.

Kim, my wedding date is March 4, 2011, when is yours?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
