I have a question that my Travel agent cant find for me.

Did you booked the trip and the wedding first to actually get a date for the wedding day or were you able to find out first what dates they had available and make a desicion on your holidays based on that?

did you have any kind of comunication with the hotel wedding coordinator before you booked? Is there a email adress where you can ask about that sort of details?

I am trying to organize my wedding with people flying from two countries and need to get the timings right!

I hope one of you can help

thank you again!

Re:Coba or Tulum ... We stayed at the Coba and I'm glad we did.  The Coba has Jr Suites so there was alot more room on my wedding day to get ready... when you have 2 hairdressers and 2 bridesmaids plus yourself all getting ready in one room, you need the extra space!  It was a godsend that day.  Re: how far the Coba is to the beach... I guess everything is relative. There is the "beach bus" that is running every few minutes all over the resort so if you don't want to walk the 10 min down to the beach you can get the bus.  To each his own though...

Re: Speakers... Eugenia is amazing.  If you want it, she will find a way to make it happen for you!  She let us use the hotel speakers and we just plugged our Ipod in for our music.  It was perfect.  Our private poolside cocktail party reception was at the White Sands pool bar (right outside the Akumal main lobby by the pool) it was beautifully decorated and we had no problem with party crashers or noise.  They also provided a microphone for speeches!

Any more questions feel free to ask :)

Our room at Tulum was a junior suite. it was different than all our guests and much bigger. I think they give the bride/groom the bigger room.

Just another note on the speakers: I stayed at Tulum and the speakers/microphone were not an option. Just a heads up. They do not let you use them from one of the other resorts. And if you do go the speaker option, I would make sure they are powerful speakers. I have my own iPod speakers and they would never be loud enough to be heard for a reception.

Hey Swanster! I remember once you saying that you had found a version with no words from the Little Mermaid. Kiss the girls I think? Can you point me in the right direction of where you found it?? Thanks!! Trying to get everything all tied up! Had to believe that it will be just a few short weeks. Time goes by soooo fast!

Yes! I walked down the aisle to it! Here is a link to download the song.. it's only good for one week.

If you can't get it to work do a search on iTunes for the O'Neill Brothers. It's on the Music for your Beach wedding album. You will love it!

Yea the quality of the suits were great. We were nervous about ordering the suits from so far away but they were really well made.  You can provide custom measurments or just choose by jacket size, etc...

Were you happy with the quality of the pants from this site? I am looking at the $46 linen pants. Its a good deal but want to make sure that are a fairly good quality too.

Thanks Swanster! That's awsome! I'm going the route of non traditional wedding music and this will fit in perfectly. Quick question. Did you provide Jazmin with a few extra songs so that when people were being seated and waiting for the ceremony to start they could be played at that time?

I have a few other questions too if that's alright? DJ Bijan, did you tip him and how much would be reasonable? We were thinking 100. We plan to bring Jazmin somthing small from home and plan to give her 100 as well. And in terms of the photographers. DId you speak with them before hand? And when exactly do they meet up with you on the big day? Prior to the ceremony, at the ceremony? I swear I could go on and on. In a small sense of panic realizing that the big day is really not so far away anymore!! Thx!!

No problem! Glad to help!

1. I gave Jazmin 1 extra song for the guests being seated. I would've given more but she insist they use their music until just before the processional... she said it could take longer and they don't want to have your song run short and have to play it again or have a lull with no music.

2. Yes, we did tip Bijan... but a lot less. I think we gave him $50. I think we gave Jazmin $75 and Mara $25 (She was training).. In hind sight I wish I gave Jazmin a lot more as she definitely deserved it.

3. Kind of... you meet with Ariceffe right after you meet with Jazmin. She brings you to them... they're the people that take the pictures around the resort so they have a kiosk right there. You don't actually meet with your specific photog (at least, I didn't) but they give you all the info you need and then some (this took way too long in my opinion!). I met Nestor when he showed up at my room to take pics - Jazmin will go over all this with you as well but they usually plan to be to your room about 30 minutes before you are to be picked up for the ceremony. They use this time for 'getting ready' pics. And I would highly recommend making a list of the specifics you want (families, special people etc etc)... I didn't and there's some groupings I wish I would've had done.

Don't worry! It seems like everything is up in the air but once you meet with Jazmin you'll feel so much better. They have all your emails on file and they have a form that has EVERYTHING on it that you've requested... and they go over it with you with a fine-tooth comb so nothing is missed. Everything will come together :)

1. Good to know!! I guess that makes sense in terms of using their music....did you hear any of it? Was it nice??

2. Thanks on the tip information...we certainly help in terms of planning....I have never even heard of Mara!! huh.gif So looks like Jazmin will be getting the full tip! I'm going to give it to her when we meet so it's done early in the week and is one less thing that I have to worry about.

3. Thanks for that advice. She is already well aware (and has given her blessing) that my girlfriend's husband will be taking the majority of our pictures. I cleared that with her about a year ago. It was one of the first things we discussed when we made the inital booking. So she knows (as she has recently just asked again) that I will most likley only be taking the 10 pictures that come with the package unless I see something really cool that we want. But making a list of pictures that I want is good to know!

4. And really I have to say that she has been amazing...there was a period a few months back when it took awhile to hear from her but other then that I don't know how I would have done all this without her.

Thanks as always for the help! I'm sure that there will be a few more questions over the next few weeks!! We leave 6 weeks tomorrow!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
