Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies,

I added arreciffe on my FB as a like or group, whichever, anyway! point being they posted some photos of a wedding today, and Nestor really did do an AMAZING job...  I'm STILL no impressed with the pricing, I found a PHENOMENAL videographer/photographer team, and for under 5000+ travel expenses, what you get is BREATHTAKING!  SO I may very well try and see if it's budgetable!

for now here's a link to Studio67, breathtaking!

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT, did I mention that I love it! lol

I'm confused.com here! Can someone please bring me up to speed with what is happening with the photgraphers?  Our photos and video are a really really important part of our blessing to us.

It appears for new brides, you MUST use the resort photographers.  We reserved our wedding date in January 2010.  At that time, we were not told that we had to use the resort photographers.  Up until this point, the only information that was sent to us about Arrecife was in the OPTIONAL services document.  You can imagine our shock a few weeks ago when we were told we must use Arrecife unless we paid $800.  This was after we spent months researching and finding the photographer we wanted to use!!!

For ladies that have been to resort:

A couple of questions that my travel agent can't answer:

1. What is dress code for men in the A la carte restaurants, do they have to wear closed shoes?

2. Does the hotel provide towels around the pool?

3. Is there a hairdryer in the room?

4. Is there an iron in the room?

They say men have to wear pants and closed toed shoes for dinner but to be honest, my hubby wore khaki's and sandals and no one said anything.

2. Does the hotel provide towels around the pool?

Yes. You get a towel card upon check in to exhange for towels by the pool. Just don't lose it because they charge you $50 for a replacement!

3. Is there a hairdryer in the room? Yes!

4. Is there an iron in the room? Yes!

All the info is on their website as well:

Hope that helps!

Hi Ladies,

I am getting married at the Gran Bahia Principe on January 6, 2011 and I have a few questions you may be able to help me with.

Karla is my wedding coordinator and I am having some difficulty getting the ceremony time I want.  They want my ceremony to be at 4:00 but I really want it earlier, at 2:00.  I have a relative coming with me who is a wedding photographer, and she usually needs around 2 hours for pictures.  Looking at sunset times, it doesnâ€t seem like enough time for us.  Just wondering if anyone out there was able to have an earlier ceremony time??

Is it possible to rent speakers from the resort instead of hiring a DJ?  We like the idea of just using our IPOD for the reception instead of paying for a DJ.

Does anyone have a link or any maps of the resorts they can share?  My ceremony is at the beach palapas area (I am not sure exactly where that is) and I am going with the Mediterranean restaurant for dinner and the Jacuzzi Bar for the reception.  However, I donâ€t know where any of these locations are!

I do appreciate any thoughts or input you have!

Andrea

I think we're just having a small wedding...just 13 of us total. So far, I think probably another 2-4 people will book though. Any suggestions on what we should do for after dinner? I don't know if I see the point in having a 'reception'. Unless we can bring our own ipod and speakers? Do you know if the plugs are the same as north america? Would they allow us to play our own music? Would it be silly having a little reception for just us...I'm just not sure where else we'd be able to go with children after dinner.

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
