Wow, it had been afew months since I had been on the site, so just got through all 30 or so pages! I love this site.

I am having our rehersal dinner on a Thursday night, and have heard that there is a buffet dinner and Fiesta dance (live music) at the Hacienda on Thursdays. Does anyone know anything about this. i was wondering if anyone has been able to reserve a table here before? Any info would be great, what kind of food, events....

Thanks ladies!cheesy.gif

The Mexican fiesta night is thursday 830-1030. Its a show and a few games, no dinner. You cant reserve seats but you wont need to theres enough seating for everyone its huge. it cost $16 per person to go and you go to the main lobby for tickets and they charge your room. I also have a welcome newsletter boklet i made , our guest loved it! I mailed everyone them 2 weeks beofre the wedding ;) If you would like it just email me

ALso i have the pricing for the photgrapghy from the resort if anyone would like it!

We only wanted to buy the $500 photo package , which gave you the photgraphy all day and 36 photos. but once we saw them all we really loved them and wanted all of them! i recived 176 photos, 10 were free withour symbolic cermony package So for 169 photos on a cd they wanted $3500 ,We talked them down to $2500 and they also gave us a really nice photo album .

We were really upset that the photos were soo much money, but we loved them so much that it was worth it.

I have all the pricing, just email me jennster_04@hotmail.com and ill send you it.

If anyone is having their weding at akumal PLEASE request Eugiena as your wedding cordinator. She is the best! and speaks the best english and gets back to you that day!

As for the beach ceremony, its a no brainer , ur in Mexico you have to be married on the beach!! The have resort people making sure noone comes near your cermony. We did have people sitting and watching us from a distance  and it made a great picture!, They all cheered me on when i had to walked down ;) It was a great feeling! Everyine loves watching weddings so the people that watched from a far distance were polite and kept quiet.

I got back last Friday and married life feels great. !!!

OMG that's TOTALY BS, 3500 for 169 photos?!?  Moments that Matter for 10 hours and 800 photos charge 3200 dollars!

THAT IS SHEET!  I don't care how good people seem to think that they are, they are NOT my first choice, and I wouldn't pay that much for a photographer, unless they were at my beck and call (figuratively) all day!

Its looking to be cheaper to bring down my own photographer!!

My brain is in overdrive with colours, bridesmaids dress for my daughter, flowers, hairstyles, wedding meals, suits for hubby etc I have a list the length of my arm to get through before I go back to work full time sad.gif

After receiving several updates I though our day should be shared! We were married at the GBP Akumal on July 2, 2010.  My planner wa at first Paloma, then switched to Eugiena.  I had decent contact with both of them over the year of planning and sent/received an email the week before we left confirming all of our plans.

We arrived on June 27, only to find that they had no record of our wedding.  After 6 hours of flying and an hour of waiting to check into the "Golden Club" I just broke down.  So I headed to our room  to calm down and regroup.  Our was not terrible, but it was a family room with 3 beds and no view, not what you are expecting when you bring 12 people to the resort and are having your wedding/honeymoon there over 2 weeks.  Thankfully I had printed off all of the email conversations with myself and the coordinator and sent my hubby with them to the Golden Lobby.  He then demanded to speak to Eugiena and to have everything straightened out.  Eugiena spoke with the staff and had promise that everything would be fixed by the next afternoon.  We did not realize though that our guests were all dispersed over the Akumal resort...we assumed that everyone would be close but they were is 6 different buildings.   Nobody seemed to mind thankfully so we left it at that,  The next day the hotel pulled through on their promise and we received our new room (3rd floor on the Ocean with a king bed), had our meeting with Eugiena and felt confident that things were taken care of.

Our wedding day was a bit of an adventure too! I called for a hair appointment 3 days before, then called on the morning of our wedding to confirm the time, they did not have my appointment.  I again was freaking out!! After 2 more phone calls they had me in earlier than I originally booked but that was fine.  The girl did a great job and my hair did not move all night.

As for the photographer, we flew ours down  knowing that we would most likely not like the photos from the hotel.  She took us up to the Hacienda for pictures and our "first look."  What an awesome back drop for photos!!  On the way back to the Akumal Lobby our tram broke down and it was pouring rain, we had 30 min. until our ceremony started.  The guy was trying to fix it but was having no luck so we asked him to call another car.  He said 2 minutes, it was actually about 15.  We ended up being a couple minuted late, which worked out okay because the Pastor was also late! That gave me just enough time to sit at the snack bar and down a beverage to help calm my nerves!!

The ceremony (deluxe) on the beach was awesome.  The Pastor was cute and did a great job.  My bouquet was beautiful and the location was done up nice too (arrangement on the table, tule on the posts/chairs, rose petals on the ground, music) The only down fall was the photographer.  He was just like paparazzi, ducking and weaving and was super invasive with his camera.  Our photographer had to ask him to move a couple times so she could get a chance for a shot, he replied that he couldnt or he would loose his job.  So we just let him do his thing.  The reception we had at the Dolce Vita, it was great! The only had 2 other tables in with us and they were not even close so it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves.

Over all even with the couple of bumps along the way it was a fantastic day.  All of our group is still laughing at all the mishaps and really enjoyed our time at the resort.  A couple of tips: bring your emails, confirm all your appointments the day before preferably in Spanish, fly your photographer down (we paid $4000 Cnd incl. flight and had her and an assistant the whole day and coverage for our home reception, fully edited, & approx 700 images just of our day in Mexico with more to come), bring make-up fixative (try Make-up Forever) it so humid that you need it & an updo is well worth it due to the wind!

I know this is very lengthy but I hope it will help someone out!  Cheers!

We talked them down to $2500 tax included it was expensive but i love all my photos and it was still cheaper then flying down our own photographer. Ladies you all need to relax a bit. enjoy your wedding, its a freaking destination wedding! The resort is soo beautiful, pictures don't do this place justice!

If you want to bring your own photographer just do it, stop complaining about it. The less questions you ask the better with the resort, You are in Mexico not Canada not the UK and not USA! They do everything different, they don't speak good English but guess what your in their Country! Honestly if you want to bring your own photographer do it! just don't tell them they cant do anything about it. They said we couldn't video tape well guess what we did and they didn't say anything about it ! They don't care, they wont say anything. But if you ask them of course they want you to use the resort photographer.

Juan was our photographer and he was amazing, he was never in the way and i love all my photos and worth every penny.

Everyone will have a different experience , its what YOU make of it, complaining about the little things in life is such a waste . when you get there the resort speaks for itself.

I could complain that our minister was 1.5 half late but i got married in August during hurricane season and the only thing i cared about was that IT DIDNT RAIN on my wedding day. And it didnt, it didnt rain once!! I dont care to let little things bother me. It was such a great day and the resort is soooo soo beautiful! Watching all the shooting stars at night is so breath taking.

Ladies have fun, try to relax! Enjoy your wedding!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
