Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies! I am so glad I found this forum! EVen though I'm still overwhelmed by the whole wedding planning thing. My fiance and I are thinking of the Gran Bahia Principe (either Coba or Tulum) as we love their gazebo structure. Anybody here know where they hold the weddings in case it rains? Any indoor pictures would be great! I tried to email the wedding coordinator but they said they will not send out pictures or further information until they get a final confirmation from me. I just don't feel comfortable putting down a deposit without knowing these details. Thanks in advance!

I'm sorry Maddy! I've never seen indoor pictures of weddings. I've heard they have them in the lobbies though, and I've seen multiple pictures of them and they are beautiful! What month are you thinking of getting married in?

We're thinking October 2008. Apparently that's a rainy month so I just want to take pre-cautions. Sunsierra, keep me updated when you find out! I have a co-worker that has a friend that got married at the Bahia last year. The wedding coordinator did not organize an indoor location. Well, it rained on their wedding day and they ended up having the ceremony in the restaurant. I really don't want that to happen to me! I encourage all the ladies here to talk to your WC about indoor locations to prevent this situation.

Thank you Sunsierra! I'm not thrilled about having it in a restaurant but I guess that's part of the risk. I read somewhere that when it rains in the cancun / mayan riviera area, it's usually only for short periods or usually at night. I hope that's true. Anybody been to the Mayan in October? How rainy is it?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
