I had a small group too and we booked a private cocktail hour for after dinner. Thats when we did our first dance. I booked ours for 2 hours, open bar and music and I think it was only around $10 a person. We ended up inside at one of the lounges (which was closed just for us) because it was raining and not safe for the speakers to be set up outside. Either way it was nice. We were a small bunch too and it made it feel more like a reception when we got to dance and have a few drinks in a more private setting.

I'm not getting married until next year but I am having my dinner at Le Gran Tortuga, it is the brazilian where they bring out the meat on swords....have heard really good things about it. Then we are having a poolside reception for 2 hours after dinner, it worked out $8 per head plus $300 for DJ, I haven't gone with the resort DJ I have booked DJ Bijan....I have 42 people going.

Hi Janet, are you from England in UK? I live in London!! I am also having my dinner at Gran Tortuga, heard really good things about it!! I am having poolside reception but have a lot more people going. I've read on here (somewhere in the 300 pages!!) that you can just go to one of the bars & ask the band playing there to play a first dance for you?....Happy Planning!!

Here was my budget breakdown for my flowers. I can't for the life of me remember where I got the prices from. I think it was someone on this forum and I never did get a final invoice to see what the actual prices were! I just know the total costs were very close to what I had calculated so we didn't question it.

Bride Bouquet: Included
Bridesmaids Bouquet: $36 x 4 (estimate) = $144.00
Corsages: $16 x 2 (estimate) = $32.00
Groom Boutonniere: Included
Additional Boutonnieres: $11 x 7 (estimate) = $77.00
Hair flower: $6 (I asked for one but Janet brought 5 so all the girls could wear one. I don't think I was charged extra for this)

Here's my bouquet with the BM bouquets. They were just a smaller version of mine:

And this is the best pic I could find of the corsage that our mom's wore:

They didn't ask me what I wanted the bouts or the corsages to look like, they just went off the pic I gave them for my bouquet. They all turned out great!

If you have any more questions, ask away!

Swankster...your wedding was beautiful!! Congrats! :-)

I'm in the process of buying a wedding dress and I'm quickly eliminating half the store because of the weight of the dresses. I don't want to faint on the beach. haha

Your dress is beautiful and similar to the style I'm looking for. What material is your dress made of? Just curious. Thanks!

I know this question was not aimed towards me but thought I'd answer anyway since I was just there!

Bride Boquet + Groom Boutonier were included with wedding package.
Bridesmaid Bouquets $36x4 = $144
Junior Bridesmaid Bouquet $28x1 = $28
Boutonier $11x6 = $66
Wrist Corsage $16x5 = $80
Grand total $318.. but the actual bill (it was on the bill at check out) came to $329.

The flowers were gorgeous though.. i was not sure what to expect. I will post more pics in my review (almost ready to post that I swear!!) but here is just one of the wrist corsage... way better than I imagined. Plus I had a bunch of left over ribbon and asked if they could use it and sure enough they did and it all looked amazing:

This is my bouquet 3 days after the wedding.. will find a better pic for my review (this pic does not do it justice)

Yes, be sure to wear a dress that is not too heavy!! My dress was made out of taffeta. Bought it at Davids bridal... still felt very heavy even with no train!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
