It kind of depends how many people you have at your party. It's better if you have a larger group like 35 or more, that'll give you a better odds of people dancing and be able to utilize the DJ and the atmosphere better.

My group only have 24 people and I decided not to do a poolside reception, ( trust me it's not an easy decision!!). We ended up doing our first dance at Daiquiri Bar and danced there for another 2 hours with mainly our party and some other resort guest, it was absolutely FUN!!!

Waybuloo, we did a welcome dinner (meet & greet) on the 2nd night we were there and it was a breeze. I contacted my WC well in advance to ask about it and she set the whole thing up at one of the quieter buffets. They even made this cute swan heart thing on our table with place markers and everything! Didn't cost us a thing either. Ours was at the Cozumel buffet in the Premier Lobby. :)
Thanks for that info.....am just going to email Jazmin to try & organise for me!!....& I know you shouldn't listen to bad reviews on tripadvisor but it just makes you worry when organising for so many people!!......I am officially ignoring any bad reviews from now on....smile120.gif

Originally from New York so speaks english & Jazmin at Tulum has said it is ok that I book him so that is what I am going to do!!

We did the special cocktails and it was $5 per hour for first hour and $3 for each additional hour... I think we paid around $330 or something like that... but there were more choices than what they tell you... and our reception ended up being basically on one side of the snack bar which has almost a full bar so if anyone needed anything they could get it there... but I didn't notice anyone doing this so I think we had something for everyone.

DJ Bijan was AWESOME! You can't beat the quality and price... he played a wonderful mix and had just the right amount of lights. His wife accompanied him and took tons of video... I can't wait to see if they do anything with it. he was so easy to work with, played my list of songs and added a couple of his own as well as took requests as they came. I would highly recommend him to anyone!

I am starting to panic about the resort itself. We have 46 people coming with us (way more than we expected) and we have never been to the resort. I've been having nightmares about the resort being disappointing, guests hating it and everyone getting sick.

Can anyone who has stayed at the resort help to set my mind at ease?
DON'T WORRY! I'll be honest... when we first arrived there were a couple people who had air conditioning issues and mini bar not being cold issues... other than that everyone was completely happy. And all the issues were worked out for the most part. I think one building didn't have air for a day or 2 but it was ok since we all hung out by the pool/beach anyway.

As for people being sick... we did have a couple that did get sick. My aunt was sick almost the whole time. She got antibiotics from the pharmacy and started feeling better only on the last day or 2. Other people got sick here and there but nothing that ruined anyones times. I keep thinking it was from all the eating and drinking... we're not used to eating such big grand meals every meal of the day for 7 days straight - plus all the fruity drinks. I bought some probiotics for my FI, daughter and I... we took them everyday and none of us had any issues.

We were supposed to have a poolside reception with DJ but the one day it rained was on my wedding day - go figure! It held out enough for the ceremony and actually for the reception but Jazmin didn't want the DJ to worry about his equipment getting wet so she put us on the north side of the snack bar Las Olas... I was so worried this was not going to be as nice but it was even better than I had hoped and am glad it was moved. We had a nice dance floor, shelter area, super close to bathrooms and bar... plus we had some of the snack part tables/chairs for the older people to sit...it was absolutely perfect! I'm surprised they don't offer that more often. they decorated it too - lots of white rope lights and white table covers. They used the chairs from the ceremony with my sashes too. It was all so perfect.. will write a full review and post pics soon!

Swankster, can't wait to read your review...you know I'll be full of lots of questions!!
How did everything at the Spa work out??
The spa was ok... I had my makeup done and I didn't feel like they made me look dramatic enough.. not that I wanted to look obscene but I wear more make up on a daily basis than what Francisco made me look like. So instead of speaking up i ended up adding more eye make up in my room. But if you like a more natural look it was perfect. Oh and it was pouring rain right when I was done so they gave me a large umbrella and also had a guys escort me to the bellboy and got me a private car to my room so I wouldn't get wet! so nice!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
