Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Thanks for that....I checked our documents & it does say champagne toast after the ceremony so this must be the cocktail hour.

I am undecided whether to have a DJ or ipod? Could you hear your ipod ok?

Can't help you with the DJ since we didn't use one. iPod was the way to go for our poolside cocktail party! Cocktail party is after dinner. We paid to do the private poolside one which was great fun!

Re: Cocktail hour

I'm not sure if its for all weddings or only certain ceremony types, it should say I think in the documents they sent you when you chose the type of ceremony you wanted. Its directly after the ceremony (it was free for us) and its just toasting. They set up a table and have a couple of bottles of champagne for right after the ceremony so you can do toasts/pictures before you move over to the dinner location. It's a time filler mostly :)

Jazmin told me that is not an option... unless I bring my own speakers or rent from somewhere local.

On another note... I'm starting to panic again! I emailed the spa trying to make an appointment to get my make up done a couple weeks ago and heard nothing. I emailed Jazmin about the timing of our meeting and some other stuff... nothing! I'm leaving in 12 days and I really hope they email me back in time!

Did everyone bring copies of all emails between you and wedding coordinator? I'm wondering if I should be printing mine out soon??

I would take all emails... I did I didn't need them I just felt better having them as reference.

Spa Bella don't stress, I forgot to book and booked the day before and it was three of us and they were open... I went on a very busy time of year... June is much less busier.

Word of advise have lots of pics regarding how you want your hair take them for them to see.... Both staff at the spa speaks very little english.
that maybe why you have not heard back from them...

I spoke too soon! Both the Spa and Jazmin wrote back to me this afternoon already!

Do I need pics for make-up too? One of my friends is doing my hair (she's a stylist)... and I already had my hair trial!

And my appointment with Jazmin is all set up. Yay!

It may be a per location thing. I was at the Akumal and had no problem with this... if anyone is considering doing the iPod thing make sure to check and double check w/ the WC for your wedding location.

I think a DJ is well worth the money! There were only 36 of us and we just loved having a DJ. We used his system for speeches and DJ Bob kept everyone up dancing all night long!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
