Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Well ladies, I'm officially starting to lose it.

We leave in a week and a half and things are just piling up. I picked up my dress yesterday, only to get it home and realize they did not complete the alterations properly. I even tried it on in the store. My mind is just so full and racing all the time I couldn't even focus long enough to realize there were problems!

It is not even just wedding details that have me going, those are pretty much all taken care of. It's dealing with the little wedding things and work on top of that. I am a teacher and I'm waist deep in report cards (due Thursday). Now I'm in a bind as I have to try and get the afternoon off to take my dress back. I work 45 minutes out of town so by the time I get home the bridal salon is closed.

I'm constantly running around in the evenings to get last minute gifts, go tanning, drop luggage containing OOT bag goodies to my aunt, a hair appointment this week, a makeup consult, and now a suprise stagette on Friday! I was fine not having one... Bah!! Is it March 27th @ 6:00a.m yet? I need to be on that plane!

Awww Jules I feel for you! I am a student teacher finishing up my final practicum right now. I have no idea how you are fitting everything in. Just try and pick your battles. If there are things you can let go of, that really donâ€t matter, just let them go LOL. Ask yourself how much it will matter once you are on the beach sipping a cocktail. I hope things look up for you soon. You are getting SOOOOO close.

I just canâ€t tell you how excited I am getting for the big day to arrive. Iâ€m sure many of you are feeling that same. My bridal shower and stagette are come up fast as well. They are being held on the last weekend of March (12 days away)! I have taken over my own shower planning LOL. With the wedding being so easy and stress free, I felt the urge to plan and decorate something. Needless to say my step-mothers house is going to look fantastic when Iâ€m through with it.

Hi Ladies,

Im getting married at Tulum on May 11th...only 53 days to go!!!! Im having my dinner at Gran Tortuga and wondering if anyone else has had their reception there. Can you do your speeches there? Play light music? We are having a poolside reception after dinner but they only gave us 90 minutes and we want to use all that time for dancing :)

I would appreciate any and all advice.

Hi Chrissy
We were married at the Tulum Feb.2nd and had our reception dinner at the Gran Tortuga. They do not let you change the music, they have their own. We did do speeches there because again we wanted to use as much time for the music and dancing.
The restaurant is really nice, they tuck you into one corner away from other guests. You start with the salad bar which has tons of different food to suit anyone and then they bring meat and seafood on large swords and cut it onto your plate. It is so good and you get so full..
We had the poolside reception aswell and for 2 hours 8.30 to 10.30.. We used our own ipod (big mistake) the wind and a show at the theatre drowned our music out.

I hope this helps

Has ANYONE SHIPPED THEIR WEDDING DRESS TO THE BAHIA? My daughter's dress is very full and we are contemplating shipping vs. buying it a seat on the plane. What has eveyone else done?

Thanks!! Her wedding is May 21 at the Bahia Tulum Gazebo....I am soo excited!

I wouldn't. It's not worth the risk. What if it never makes it there?? Everyone always warns against even shipping your decorations/favours down ahead of time for this reason. I would rather fold it very tightly and deal with the steaming/pressing once there than send it ahead of time!

DO NOT!!! Ship your dress!!

Things don't arrive in Mexico on time, get caught up in customs, etc. DO NOT SHIP IT! You will be very upset if your dress doesn't make the trip.

The dress should fit fine above the seats in the overhead bin. You might have to cram it, but it's better to get it steamed at the resort than having to try and find a random dress to wear on your big day!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
