quick question...for those who had the legal ceremony did you do anything else to make it different or unique?

just wondering what to plan or if we should leave things as is.

sorry if this question was already asked (i have bridal brain...it's much like mama brain where you can't remember sh*t!!! hahaha)

I wrote a whole lovely ceremony out and emailed it to the WC. She told me it was great but couldn't be used because the Judge has a stict script to follow for parts of it. We can have one reading, our own vows and what we wrote for the rings....otherwise it is all Judge. Then the Judge will pronounce us husband and wife...then we can do the sand ceremony. I told the WC that seemed backwards to me, so she said that after the sand ceremony she introduces the couple to the group as Mr. and Mrs. and then there is the recessional. Odd, but we want the sand ceremony, so....

Hope that helps.

As for the photographer, yes, you can have a guest photograph your wedding. However they have to be a guest at the resort for three nights, not just a guest for the day. So you'll want to fly in your photographer. It's usually done quite cost effectively and if you contact some photographers on this forum, I'm sure they'll give you a deal!! :)

Poolside reception... LOVED IT!!! I had my dinner and dance next to the pool. It did cost extra. It was $35 a person. But to me, it was worth it. I wouldn't change a thing! So delicious!

We had the DJ, and I would definitely do that again. He was great, kept the party going, and even danced with us. We had a lot of fun with him. And the music was definitely loud enough. At one point my husband and I snuck away to practice our "rock the reception" dance one last time and we could hear it all the way in the lobby! So that was fun.

For the ceremony, we added a sand ceremony at the end. It was weird to kiss before hand, however at the time Yuritzia just didn't translate the prouncing of husband and wife. The judge said it in Spanish to make it legal, but the guests had no clue. Then we read our sand ceremony. Kissed again, were pronounced, and partied! :)

I know these questions have already been answered but thought I'd throw in my two cents!

I've been told not to worry about anything till we get there.. so that's what I've been doing so far, but I just feel like im going to get there and be upset that nothing is planned.. I feel like a crazy person right now..lol So, I have a few questions..

Cinco de Mayo! That's the date we originally picked but we ended up having to bump it back a week so our best man, who's a pro hockey player, could make it. First time ever I'm routing against his team so they don't make play offs! haha I'm trying my best not to worry about things too but you're right, it's nerve racking thinking that we'll work it out 2 days before the wedding!

What do most people do for the dinner/reception?? I would like a poolside reception, so should I do a dinner at one of the resturants, then just the reception by the pool?? Or do it all by the pool?? And which one is more cost efficiant??

I would have loved to have the dinner and dance poolside but to pay $25-35 per head was out of our budget. The al a carte is included and my FI can't get past the "paying for food at an AI" concept. We're definitely having the dance there though!

If I do choose to have the dinner at a reasurant, should I book that now?? Do you have to pay per person for that??

Included! Definitely book now! I had to choose my menu back in August which I thought was a little odd...

From what i've read, you are not allowed to have outside photogragher, but is that the same if the outside photogragher is also your guest??

Guests allowed. Snap away.

last question for now.. Do you think a dj is needed, or would an ipod be alright for the receptionhuh.gif

I'm going with a DJ. We definitely want a good dance party and we don't want to worry about messing with our ipod all night.

Sorry for all the questions... lolblush2.gif

It's exacty 3 months today for me! Raykel, I don't know how you're even functioning. I'm already bursting, I can't imagine how I'll feel with less than 2 weeks to go!

Hi swankster,

Thanks for the info! So we are allowed to hire DJ outside the resort? How much does Bijan cost? Thanks!

I also have 29 people... I think the poolside reception will be perfect for that amount of people!! We hired DJ Bijan... he's cheaper than the resort DJ so if you want his info let me know.

Hi Keira,

I like the idea that you were able to set aside a table so you can have dinner with your guests. I have around 25-30 guests, do you think they will set aside a little section for me? And did you arranged that with you WP? or the people at the buffet restaurant? Thanks!

I only ate with all the guests on the first day. I asked to have a table set aside at the buffet for everyone to meet at 6. They had no issues with that. Rest of the week we all did our own things. People wanted to do different excursions and try different a la cartes so it was just easier to have everyone do their own thing.

Trisha - what a good idea having the WC not translate that line! I am so going to ask Jazmin to do that. That way the order won't seem so odd:) See this is why this forum is so amazing...the little things that help make it great! Thanks!

Krama.....I am down to 12 days....7 till we leave! It has flown by too.... I have a pedicure this afternoon and then a couple DIY projects we are hoping to wrap up this afternoon. Tomorrow is big packing day! I have to do some laundry, but the majority of it will be laid out and ready to go:) smile29.gif (they need a smile that dances and shakes his butt - this is the closest I could findwink.gif )

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
