I am also from Vancouver and will be getting married at GBP in Feb 2011. I was originally thinking about having the ceremony on the beach on the Tulum side, but after seeing the video posted erlier, I am thinking about the Akumal beach. Does anyone know exactly were that ceremony in the video was. Is there a particular beach area that you have to ask for to get it there?

If you want to see an awesome short video of a wedding at the Bahia Akumal resort check out the blog of the video guy we are going to hire: http://www.thecaptureblog.com/

Scroll down to the video of Chris + Cathy. It doesn`t say where it was shot, but I thought I recognized the resort and after speaking with the videographer on the phone, I was right :-)
OMG!!! FI and I just watched that video. That's our wedding location exactly! We're doing the hammocks too. It was kind of surreal seeing that video and realizing that it will be us in a few short months! I cried!!

It's called "the hammocks" on the Akumal beach side. It's called this because the rest of the time there's no weddings there, they have hammocks hanging from this structure :)

Here's a pic of the location we got from Eugenia who is the WC for the Akumal

We just got married there last week...it's called Cancha de actividades in Spanish..it's right by the activity pool, just further away! So nice and Eugenia is UNBELIEVABLE! Honestly, I just wanted to put her in my pocket and take her home..so professional, so much class. Love her! Best of luck to all the brides!!!

Hey ladies,

A couple of things:

We are getting married at BPT in 1 MONTH!!! I was told by our WC that our wedding location won't be confirmed until we arrive at the resort and have our meeting. Is this true for everyone else?

Also, I just wanted to give a heads up to those having a civil ceremony. I assumed that the package included all of the costs, but just found out that the blood tests are an extra fee. It costs $160US which is paid in cash to the dr........(he is making some good $$$!)

Hi TeNeil,
Do you have Jazmin? I confirmed where my wedding was going to take place in August. I as you know is getting married Feb 2, I hate when they give totally different information to each and every bride.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
