How do you feel about changing dresses mid-wedding?

Recommended Posts

my photographer starts at 4pm, when i'm getting dressed & ready, and i'll be in my huge foo-foo dress for 9-10 hours when all is said and done. i know some of you changed mid-reception, or after the ceremony, and i'm wondering if i might like to do that too.

did/will you make any "costume" changes at your wedding? why? into what? are you glad you did or do you wish you didn't bother?

this is the dress i'm thinking of getting, $30 at Welcome to Target, so it's not like it would be a waste of money if i don't get around to changing. also i could bring it for my cabo wedding if i decide my big poofy one is too much of a hassle to bring down after already wearing it at my home wedding.

Cute dress! After trying on my dress, I'm starting to wonder if I should have a "costume change" dress. It's big and poufy and I lolve it, but it is a little heavy. I have my TTD dress that I could change into if I get tired of lugging mine around. Although I think my mother will have a fit if we paid a grand for my dress and I only wear it for an hour! LOL

I changed mid-way through the reception. I kept trying to dance and people would either step on my dress or the bustle would come undone. Too much shakin going on- LOL.

I didn't really plan on ever changing but I brought a dress "just in case." Well obviously I changed and I'm glad I did. I wanted to have a good time and the dress just kept getting in the way. It was more important for me to have a good time, then look great in my dress the whole night. I know some girls want to sleep in the thing, but I'm totally not like that. I just want to PAR-TAY!

I won't lie. Travelling with the dress was horrible! I hated it. I ripped the bag and had a hard time carrying the stupid thing without dragging it. I tried to just fold it over my arm, but then the dress would fall of the hanger. Steve carried it most of the time for me so I was thankful.

Even though it's crappy to travel with, I think you should ABSOLUTELY bring your big wedding dress. I think you would regret not wearing it even if it's a PIA.

i was thinking this too, but for the cabo wedding, we have less than 20 people going, and i will have already worn it at my BFW (big freakin wedding) at home, everyone going to cabo will be at the BFW, where we have our expensive photog, and all our wedding pics taken at the BFW. as of yet a photog is not in the budget for our cabo wedding (SAD! sad.gif), so i don't know how worth it it will be to lug my poofy dress all the way there and back if we probably won't even have that wedding photographed.

Hey chica...

I was thinking abotu changing fo rhte reception but then decided against it because I love my wed dress so much and will prob never wear it again. Plus it costs me a pretty penny so I will be wearing it as long as possible! LOL! :)

I do like that dress, though! And granted, it's gonna be hot so you are prob gonna love changing out of your wed. dress!

Ok gotcha. I didnt realize your wedding at home was the real deal. I just thought it was something to make some people happy before you left. Geez, I dunno then. We had only 20 people at the wedding (incuding us!) and I'm glad they flattered me all night with compliments- LOL. But if your guests have already seen it, I dunno then- especially with no photog to capture some great images of you in your dress on the beach!

hahaha, well, it is just as you described, it's just "a little something" to make people happy before we leave, but it turned in to a full fledged 200 guest affair. we started our guest list and "just family" quickly turned into over 70 people. when we looked at venues, it was either under 50, or big enough for 200, and since we had over 50, we decided to go for broke since we were paying for a larger venue anyways sad.gif oh well :)

we really wanted a true DW only, but there are just too many people in our families and friends who we really wanted to celebrate it with who couldn't do a DW for various reasons, so we're doing both! we thought if we're gonna do a huge AHR, we might as well do a wedding for everyone too, while they're gathered wink.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
