I'm definitely hacienda-bound. They are SO beautiful, and I like that they're off the beaten track. I have checked out a couple of these in person. Xcanatun is beautiful, and the events coordinator is great and very and top of it. I'm still deciding between haciendas, but so far, I'm finding that the events staff are very flexible and allow for your own vendor picks.

Hola! Sorry for not returning to this thread sooner! Terra and DCcook, I hope you are able to have hacienda weddings! There are so many options out there! I have some exciting hacienda weddings coming up in the next months and can't wait to share them! I am so glad you checking into Xcanatun, that is a first class wedding location.

      best wishes!

Hi Elizabeth, I'm a frequent reader of your blog and let me just say I love your work. I'm currently stuck in trying to choose from an hacienda wedding or a beach wedding. I have seen many haciendas online but many of them are really isolated. Is there one that you might know of that is somewhat close to the beach? I would love to find something between both worlds. Also I have been trying o find info on the Hacienda San Ignasio Tisip but I cant seem to find any info.

Hi, I'm sure Elizabeth has more insight, but just to chime in...there is Hacienda Xcanatun, which is VERY close to Merida...just on the outskirts. It's beautiful, and it was my 2nd runner-up location. Many of the ones that I was interested in were somewhat isolated, including the one I ultimately chose -- Hacienda San Jose. I was concerned about the distance from Merida (about a half hour) but I just fell in love with it, and we got engaged there so why not!

There might be others outside of the Yucatan that are closer to a city or beach but I just looked in the Yucatan.

I'm sure you'll find the perfect venue! Good luck!

Hola! I have updated the first post of this thread with some new photos... more convinced than ever that there is nothing like a hacienda wedding in Mexico!

Hi, Amy.  All of us at Hacienda XcanatÂșn can't say enough good things about Elizabeth Medina.  Talent aside, she takes the time to really capture the essence of the wedding she is photographing.  To answer your question regarding cost, we have held weddings here that go from $12,000.00 (this includes all 18 suites for 2 nights, the ceremony, and the reception for up to 36) all the way to $200,000.00.  It really all depends on what the bride and groom want!  Please visit our website, www.xcanatun.com, as well as Elizabeth's blog, where there are two weddings that have been held here: Zach and Lolita's, and Mariana and Alex's Maya Wedding.

                      Best, Cristina Baker
