I just checked out their website... Looks nice...

I don't remember the exact amount off hand but I told her that I was having between 85-100 guests and everything I wanted was adding up to be around $15,000 or more.

I wanted a full 4 hour reception with DJ. The prices were for the first 25 people I believe and then it was per person. It was going to be way to much for me to afford. Of course I wanted the most expensive package because it has everything I wanted for my wedding. I did a price comparison to Riu Ocho Rios. I took everything that they offer and compared it to Riu and there was a huge difference in price. My Riu wedding all together should be no more than $5,000. This includes everything I wanted from Tropical Weddings(including the dove release for $150). My reception at the Riu is only going to cost $1000 for 4 hours and that includes the food. I think I made the right choice for me, but it is your day - do what makes you happy!

Tropical Weddings has beautiful locations, it was just to much for my budget!!

I just received a quote from Almarie as well. I picked one of the bigger packages, but know that I will not need all these items. Of those of you who have used Tropical Weddings, did anyone pick a specific package, or is it pretty much normal to have a package customized? My quote was for the :

I was wondering if anyone has feedback on the photographer or videographer used with these packages, or if it is better to select your own. Also, did anyone use the hair/makeup option??

Also, if I do go with Tropical Weddings and Almarie, and I plan on staying at a villa, is it normal to make a site visit with her, or to just visit the site on my own when I make a visit to Jamaica in July?

Any feedback on any of these items is much appreciated!!

Luvtoteach...since I made the original post we've decided to go with one of the resorts on the island. However in my research with Almarie, because we were doing a cruise wedding we wouldn't have been able to do a site visit a head of time. However Almarie is ABSOLUTELY wonderful! I trust her 100%. Unfortunately the only site she had available in Montego Bay didn't mesh with my dream. However with that said I've since then talked to several who have used her sites in other locations (Ocho Rios and Negril) and the photos are breathtaking! One of the girls on this site who previously posted on this thread, Driftaway, used Almarie and was kind enough to answer a million questions I had and even sent photos of her wedding. You might want to talk to her.

Also regarding the package we were going to do the Cruise Package which included everything we needed. Once again because we were arriving via cruise we didn't need the reception piece of things so I never discussed that with Almarie.

I can't stress enough how wonderful Almarie is to work with. She was always prompt about answering my emails and questions. Even after we decided not to go with her she still emailed to check to see how our plans were coming along. To me one of the most important things in a WC is trust. In all my dealings with her she made me feel 100% comfortable which made the process VERY easy!

Good luck!

Thanks so much for this recommendation!! I think I am going to continue to correspond with her and customize a package and see if it can fit into my budget.

Anyone else who has worked with her - I would love a bit more info on the photographer used by Tropical Weddings. Thanks in advance!

I'm really not happy with how the wedding coordinator is handling the wedding plans and am opting to go to this company to do my wedding. I know there is one person in here who has had their wedding with them. Do you have pictures of your wedding to share? I don't want to go over $2000 but I want a reception and a ceremony with them. I like their venues and I wonder if this is goin to be a good way to go. Please help me out with your quotes and pictures if possible..

I just received a quote for customizing the cruise package for 30 guests to include:

transportation from the cruise port to ceremony and back

chairs

bridal bouqet

3 bridesmaids bouqets

1 hour of photography

and music (I said either a sound system or a musician, but she did not clarify in the quote)

she quoted me $2835, which I thought was high.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
